The weather is great and we, at
the Wingham and Area Seniors
Day Centre are taking advantage by
providing opportunities to get
outdoors.
Our cook Janice Van Osch and
the many volunteers who help out
in the kitchen are busy packing
picnic baskets and firing up the
barbecue for delicious lunches.
The month of June passed
quickly with guest speakers, slide-
shows, crafts and a fishing trip.
About 50 seniors took part in our
annual Strawberry Social in the
park. Special entertainment was
provided by "Huron Strings" and
lemonade and strawberry shortcake
were a seasonal treat.
Perhaps you heard a few
comments regarding our Back-
wards Day. Participants enjoyed a
,day in reverse at the Centre
including dessert served first at
lunchtime! If you met someone on
the street that day with their clothes
on backward relax, that was just
someone having a great time
participating in our program.
Hat and Tie Day was also a
chance to attend, all decked out.
There was plenty of enthusiasm
and creativity for this program.
Where did you fmd those hats?
A bus trip to Grand Bend
concluded the month's activities.
We visited beautiful Pinery
Provincial Park and the Lambton
Heritage Museum.
The Centre provides many
opportunities for volunteer
involvement. If you have some
time, talent or energy to share and
would like to meet new people give
us a call. Volunteers assist in the
program area, kitchen, office, on
bus trips and with transportation to
and from the centre. Currently we
are in need of volunteer drivers for
the Wingham, Belgrave and Blyth
areas. A mileage reimbursement is
given to compensate expenses.
