A local athlete will be travelling
to Quebec and British Columbia
this summer to compete in track
and field events at the junior level.

That wasn't enough to win, as the
Red Sox scored _two runs in the
seventh inning to tie the game.
On Sunday night, the Bulldogs
played a double header against the
Lieury Jets.
In the first game, the Jets scored
four runs in the first three innings.
The Brussels Tigers came home
from Monkton with a rain-soaked
8-2 win Friday night. They now
hold an 11-2 win-loss record in
HCFL action.
Todd Uhrig batted five for five
while pitching a six hit, nine
strikeout game for the win.
The Tigers opened quickly with
three runs in the first including a
lead off homerun by Steve Fritz.

Brussels Club while they waited for
the rain to abate but the greens

Her summer has been going very
well for her so far, she says. "I have

experienced athletes at the senior
games, Lori says she hopes to fin-
ish in the top quarter, but would be
pleased with the top half.
In the B.C. meet, a top five finish
in the junior ranks, is her goal.
From there, ,the top 12 athletes
from the meet will travel to Chile
for the Pan Am Games while the
top 70 will be invited to compete in
a Canada U.S. dual meet.
Lori says she hopes to be among
the 70.
As well as the national contests,
Lori has participated in the South-
western Ontario versus Michigan
meet, in Detroit, and will be going
for gold at the All-Ontario Champi-
onships on July 21 to 23 and Aug.

Lions in her athletic endeavors.
The Belgrave Bantams were not
pleasant guests in Seaforth trounc-
ing their host team by a score of
19-9. Pitchers Jeremy Campbell
and Jamie McCallum shut out
Seaforth in three of five innings,
while the Belgrave offense was on

Scoring in the first were Adam
Gamiss, Mike Barfoot, McCallum,
Robbie McGee and Kevin Hopf.
The second inning runs were Gar-
niss and Barfoot, while Garniss,
Marc Alexander and Campbell
crossed the plate in the third.
Seaforth managed three in the
bottom half, then Belgrave tagged
on two more with runs by Luke
Lockridge and McGee. The hosts
played catchup in the fourth with
six runs, but a solid fifth inning
attack put the game out of reach.
Crossing for Belgrave were Gar-
niss, McCallum, McGee, Lock-
ridge, Ryan Fear, Hopf and
Campbell.
It was turnabout on July 5 when
Teeswater came to town and hand-
ed their hosts a narrow 7-6 loss.
Scoring for Belgrave were Garniss,
two; Dean Walker, Jamie McCal-
lum, Rob Hill, Rob Burkholder.
