Graduation 1995
Blyth students remember teacher
who welcomed them with open arms
Continued from p Ige 14
Bufinga, we all made it through
the first year.
After graduating from
kindergarten we moved on to
Grade 1 where Mrs. Battyc
welcomed us with open arms. She
set out foundation for learning and
communicating in the real world.
Then in Grade 2 we had Mrs.
Little. She liked us so much she
decided to stick with us for another
year until we finished Grade 3.
Our Grade 4 teacher was Mrs.
Charters. She made it clear to us
that we were here to learn. It wasn't
supposed to be all fun and games,
and now that we were getting older
it was time to buckle down to
work.
In grade 5 we moved on to
having two teachers, Mrs. Hulley
and Mrs. Webster.
In Grade 6 we had the ever so
athletic Mr. Livermore.
Mrs. Hulley just couldn't seem to
part with us so she taught us again
in Grade 7 and was back for even
more punishment in Grade 8, where
she taught us in the afternoons
along with Mr. Harrison (who is
our principal) who managed us in
the mornings.
Throughout these nines years we
have also had Mrs. Webster as
librarian and music teacher, Mrs.
Cronin for music and any other
special help, and Mrs. Laurie for
French and art.
I would like to commend all of
these teachers for the work they
have done for us and I think they
may have actually taught us
something during our years here at
this school. We may seem like a
perfect class to some people but I
know, and I'm sure some of the
teachers know as well that we can -
be a handful at times.
I would also like to thank the
Grade 8 parents committee. They
did a great job helping with
graduation. They were also a big
help with the fundraising for our
great trip we had to Sudbury.
Thank you to all the parents for
helping with fundraising and a
special thank you to Mrs. Walker,
Mrs. Gibbons, Mrs. Blair and Mrs.
Taylor, who all did extra work in
order for our class to attend these
special events. your help is greatly
appreciated by all of us.
We are here to celebrate the
leaving of this special class, this
school and all the familiar faces.
Everyone knows each other and
looks out for one another. Every
year we welcome in new people,
say hello to old friends and
teachers.
So as we are saying goodbye a
part of me wants to stay and live
and relive this last year. The next
step is a big one and maybe one of
the hardest yet. For every step
before this has included this class
with the same people and feelings.
Now we are separating I wonder
how hard it will be and how each
one of us will handle future
change?
Even though we will part and
make new friends the friendships
that have been built here at Blyth
will last forever. This will be the
last time we are together as a class.
After tonight we will all part and
go our separate ways. We are
leaving the,familiar faces and
stepping out into the world that is
unfamiliar and full of challenges to
find new friends, new hopes and
new futures.
With this in mind we would like
to wish the class of 1995 good luck
to each and everyone of you and
please remember the years we have
spent together here as a family.

she retires this year.
Grade 2 was almost like a
flashback to kindergarten. Mrs.
•Hessels had to put up with us
again. I can still hear her voice
either saying, "I'd like a ticket" or
There was an apple left on the
ground at lunch, I'll set it on the
table for someone to claim."
Nobody ever did claim those
apples. Whose were they? Where
did they come from? It's almost
like a mystery, kind of like that
puddle under Robin's desk. Jason
and Jeremy provided great
entertainment throughout lunch
hour as we cheered them on in their
drinking box races.
Unfortunately we were split up in
Grade 3. Some of us had Mrs.
Dodds and the rest of us had Mr.
Fisher. I am sure that all of us that
were in Mrs. Dodds' classroom
remember singing New Kids On
The Block's greatest hit, Oh, Oh,
Oh, She's My Covergirl. Admit it,
we all liked them at some point in
our lives.
Grade 4 came along and our class
remained split. This time some of
us moved down to the senior hall
where we hit the books with Mr.
Kerr and the rest remained with
Mr. Fisher.
We have many memories of
Grade 5. We were finally together
again with Mr. Kerr as our teacher.
It's funny I was recently talking to
Mr. Kerr and he said that one of the
things he remembers most is
David's smile and how it got him
into trouble.
Grade 6 and we were split up
again. Due to Mrs. Thorpe Heam's
pregnancy some of us had Mrs.
Evers and although I wasn't in that
class I have heard many interesting
stories on how some of you would
aggravate her. The rest of us had
Mr. Fisher, Mrs. Gross, and Mr.
Scott. On a whole Grade 6 proved
to be a very educational year.
Grade 7 and feeling older.
Although we weren't the- best —
behaved class Mr. Fisher managed
to handle us. He even took us on a
trip to Niagara Falls where Peter
experimented with lampshades and
Matt with the shaver.
When we finally reached Grade
8, high school was becoming more
and more a reality. I am sure we
can all agree on saying that this has
been the most memorable and
exciting year. Mr. Bartlett always
found a way to make learning fun.
He was often interrupted by the
boys rather unpleasant way of
communicating.
Mme. Reed managed to control
us, but I must say we w,ere pretty
wild during French clasg.
I am-still finding it hard to
believd that this was our last year at
East WawanoSh. We will all truly
miss it.
To all of the teachers and staff
who have taught us over the years,
Thank You! Each one of you have
imparted different things that have
prepared us for this day and made
us who we are. It is said that to
teach is to touch a life forever and
that you have done.
And to the parents who have
been a constant support and
encouragement in all we do. Thank
you for being there for us.
And lastly to my fellow
graduates. We have made it! It has
been an incredible nine years
together. Throughout the years we
have grown to appreciate each
other and formed lasting
friendships. Don't ever give up!
Remember, this is merely a
beginning, the ending lies in your
hands. As Eleanor Roosevelt once
said, "The future belongs to those
who believe in the beauty of their
dreams."
