Fry tells UCW of Homecare The news from ondesboro The June meeting of Londesboro UCW was held at the church on Monday evening, June 19 at 8 p.m. The meeting opened with the UCW Purpose. Mary Peel introduced guest speaker, Karen Fry, who spoke on Homecare and their services in Huron County. She was presented with a gift. The minutes of the May meeting were read. Dorothy Tamblyn gave the treasurer's report. Brenda reported on the cabin at Camp Menesetung. Correspondence was read from Cheryl Trewartha, Yvonne Hoggart and Audrey Thompson. A letter was received from Five Oaks. Mary Peel led the worship service. Hymn 148, The Church is Wherever God's People Are was sung. Mary read scripture from Matthew 11: 27-30. She led in prayer. What a Friend we Have in Jesus was sung. The Benediction was repeated in unison. Lunch was served by Mary Vandermolen, Joan Whyte and June Fothergill. There will be no UCW until the third Monday in September. For their donation of the cover picture for the book, Gary and Debby Patterson (in front, second and third from left) of Straight Line Printers in Clinton, were presented with copies of the recipe book. The book can be purchased for $5, with all funds going to the equipment. Over 200 books have already been sold. Joining in for the presentation are, in back, fom left: Donna Veenstra, Jane Klasen, Katie MacGregor, and Carol Peel. In front, from left: are Kathy Pletsch, the Pattersons, Kittie MacGregor who came up with the idea, and Yvonne Hoggart. The June meeting of the Cheerio Club was held on Wednesday afternoon, June 21. Lunch was enjoyed at the Hillcrest Restaurant then everyone proceeded to the home of Estella Adams. Estella extended a welcome. Roll call was done with 10 members present. The minutes of the May meeting were read. Edythe Beacom gave the treasurer's report. Collection and draw money were taken up. The draw, donated by Genevieve Allen, was won by Geraldine Dale. Laura Lyon gave a reading. Estella gave a reading on ways to say "Very Good" and the "Philosophy of Life". Cards were played. Norm meeting is Group II.
