• At 27, dairy farmer Wayne Bos
of the Auburn area, has earned the
opportunity to travel to Madison,
Wisconsin this fall for the World
Dairy Expo.
Bos, one of four 1995 Ontario
Dairy Youth Award winners, will
Pull out the tackle boxes, polish
up your lures and prepare to wet a
line, because for three days, during
Ontario Family Fishing Weekend,
you don't need a licence to go
fishing. It's the perfect opportunity
for a family outing!
Through July 7 to 9, the Ontario
Ministry of Natural Resources
(OMNR) will lift the mandatory
requirement for all Ontario resident
adult (over age 18 and under 65)
anglers to carry with them a licence
to fish. This weekend of licence-
free fishing will give many people
a chance to reacquaint themselves
with one of Ontario's finest natural
recreational resources.
Angling is a multi-billion dollar
industry in Canada with one in
three people fishing recreationally
in this country - that's three million
people wetting lines every summer
in this province alone!
But some potential anglers no
longer take the opportunity to enjoy
the great outdoors. Ontario Family
Fishing Weekend is a wonderful
way for people to enjoy the angling
experience and rekindle an interest
in the great outdoors and that's the
key: people who use the
environment will work to protect
the environment.
During this special weekend, all
laws and safety regulations as well
as reduced "conservation" catch
limits are in effect. Please refer to

Having been involved with Hol-
steins all his life, Bos says, " We
have pretty good animals. We milk
70 and if we have too much milk
(due to quotas), we sell a couple."
One of the best parts of the Expo,
says Bos, is the chance to talk to
other dairy farmers.
The Boses do not yet show cattle
at the Expo because they must be
"superior in all aspects", he says.
"Maybe in 15 or 20 years."
