Coach Hugh Nichol made a
pinch runner appearance and scored
the second run of the game on a
close play at home while in the last
inning Stefan Nichol filled in as a
runner and scored as well.
The Tigers were at home
Monday to the Lieury Jets and
travel to Seaforth tonight to meet
Coops Sports.
Sunday night the Walton Brew-
ers arrive in town for a 7 p.m. start.

West Wawanosh is a rural municipality in Huron County with a
population of 1473.
Reporting directly to council, the clerk-treasurer/tax collector is
responsible for all statutory and advisory duties required of the
position, including reports, by-laws, budget preparation and
financial management. The applicant shall hold, or be nearing
completion of, an A.M.C.T. designation. Training in municipal
administration at a deputy-clerk level or higher and possessing
computer skills will be favourable assets for this position. The
successful applicant will possess strong management, analytical
and communications skills.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

A group of local road hockey
players travelled to Lucknow to
play in the annual road hockey
tournament.
In game one, they met a team
called the "Road Hawks" from
Goderich. Blyth won 4-3.
In game two they beat the
"Legion of Doom" from Lakelet 8-
1.
Blyth went on to the A
Championship game, against "the
Menace" from Lucknow. The
Menace scored early and led until

soccer team started its season on a
winning foot May 18 with a 1-0
home game win over Lucknow,
Dave Ansley scoring the lone goal.
The pace picked up in game two
the next week when, despite a loss
of Blyth PS players to their school
trip, the team was able to win a
decisive 3-0 victory over Clinton.
All the goals were in the second
half, with the hat-trick going to
Tom Egli, with assists from Kim
Berry, Steven Van Amersfoort,
Pauline Blok and Jason Stryker.
1:40 in the fmal period when Craig
Somerville fired a shat and Jeff
Ferguson buried the rebound. With
30 seconds left, the teams were
preparing for overtime, Michael
Haggitt passed the ball to
"Triggerman," Brian Marks, who
fired the ball into the top corner to
win the game.
Blyth had one game to play
against the "Purple Haze" from
Lucknow for the overall
championship. Blyth took the game
The third game (and first away)
against Wingham saw an amazing
8-0 win, with two goals again by
Egli assisted by Dave Ansley and
Becky Archambault, two goals by
Ansley, one on a penalty shot and
one with Jeremy Van Amersfoort,
two more goals by Van
Amersfoort, assisted by Aaron
Bakker and Emily Slotegraat, and
finally, two goals by Slotegraat
assisted by Jeremy and Jason
Stryker.
The most recent game, June 8,
saw the first goals scored against
4-1, to win the tournament.
Goals throughout the tournament
were scored by Brian Marks with
five, Craig Somerville, Jeff
Ferguson, Chad and Michael
Haggitt, all with three and Tyler
Stewart with one.
Great goaltending all tournament
by Jerry Mason helped in the
tournament victory. When asked
how he felt, he replied "I was a
little nervous the first game, but
then I settled in."

in the second half gave Blyth a
great comeback, with a 2-2 final
tie. Again, Egli scored a crucial
first point goal from a corner kick
by Van Amersfoort and later gave
an excellent clearing pass to Ansley
who punched the ball in for the tie.
All games so far have seen
excellent goal tending and defence,
with only two goals scored against,
but 14 scored for. Player and parent
turnout has been excellent and
promises an enjoyable and exciting
summer.
Anita Little of Brussels, hit the
bull's eye at the National Youth
Darts competition when she trav-
elled to Regina recently as pan of
the Ontario team.
Anita earned a second place fin-
ish in the Junior Female category
with partner Amanda Ellwood of
In a game filled with runs, the
Brussels Pre-Mite 2 team was
outscored 30-12 by the Fordwich
squad recently.
When Brussels failed to push any
players across the plate in the top
of the first, Fordwich capitalized on
the opportunity, smashing in eight
runs.
Brussels was only able to manage
one marker before the home town
squad added another eight.

On Monday evening, the
Brussels PeeWee boys travelled for
a contest with a strong (and large -
17 players in all) Seaforth team.
The home team took advantage
of some erratic defence in the first
inning, storming out to a quick
five-run lead.
Brussels responded with three of
their own in the top of the second,
off hits by Nathan Garland, Terry.
Nichol and Andrews Garland.
The strong offence continued in
the fourth inning. Nine runs crossed
the plate on hits by Joel Kellington,
Joshua Gropp, Nathan Garland,
Nichol, Tyler Bragg and Jason
Armstrong, who turned a triple into
a home run with some aggressive
base-running on a Seaforth error.

to claim the A title in the Brussels
Optimists Slowpitch tournament.

in the third, bringing in five runs.
However the Fordwich bats
would not let up, bringing their
total to 24 at the bottom of the
inning.
With the assistance of a booming
homerun by Adam Corbett in the
fourth, Brussels clawed out six runs
only to watch the hometowners
react with six more.
In the end, Fordwich out hit the
visitors by 18.
Nichol kept Seaforth off the
scoreboard for the final three
innings, and the boys went home
with a 12-5 victory.
The boys' next game is at home,
against Ethel, on Monday, June 19,
at 6:15 p.m.

Blue Devils blast Tigers 10-4
Fordwich dumps Brussels
Brussels PeeWees win 12-5
The Belgrave Blue Devils
handed the Brussels Tigers their
first loss of the season Friday night
by a 10-4 score. The win moves
Belgrave into a first place tie with
the Tigers, each with a five win -
one loss record.
Belgrave held early one run leaus
before scoring three in each of the
fifth and seventh innings. The
Tigers best chance came in their
fifth at bat when they scored twice
and left the bases loaded.
Brett Clarkson and Doug $haw
each batted two for three while Tim
Fritz and Murray Pipe were two for
four.
Doug Conley and Todd Uhrig
split the pitching duties with Uhrig
striking out seven Blue Devils in
three innings of relief.
Monday night in Zurich the
Tigers shutout the Rangers with a
7-0 win.
Uhrig struckout eight for the win
as well as batting four for four. Ken
Higgins reach base three of four tries
while Pete Exel was two for three.
