An organ prelude of sacred music
presented by Mrs. Elizabeth Procter
organist, welcomed members,
friends to the Knox United Church
on Sunday, June 4.
The beautiful roses in the
sanctuary were in memory of
Danny Lamont placed by the
family.
Greeting the worshippers as they
entered the church were Don and
Marlene Procter while Ellen
Procter handed out the order of
service.
Rev. Mary Jane Hobden
conducted the service with the call
to worship and prayer of approach
as printed in the bulletin followed
by the prayer of confession.
The choir of mixed voices, with
piano accompaniment by Elizabeth
Procter sang harmoniously as
usual.
Anne Spivey read scripture, Acts
2, verses 1-21 and John 14: 8-17,
and 25-27.
The certificates and seals were
given out by the Sunday School
teachers to all the Sunday School
children.
Rev. Mary Jane Hobden noted
that Nicole Walker received a seal
having had perfect attendance at
Sunday School for the year.
The children's story centered
around Pentecost. Each child was
given a cupcake. Rev. Hobden
asked them to look at the cupcake
The Cranbrook 4-H club met
again on Saturday, June 3 for their
fifth meeting.
As always, they started the
meeting with the 4-H pledge, then
continued with a game.
After this, the grand finale song
from Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolour Dream Coat was
played while they analyzed the
song. After they began to
choreograph moves to go along
next to them to see if it was the
same. The answer was no.
The sprinkles on top were all
different just as we are different.
After, each child put a candle on
their cupcake which were then lit.
Pentecost is celebrated on the
50th day after the Passover.
After reciting a prayer the
children went to the church
basement where they ate their
cupcakes as well as watched a
video on "Teamwork."
The sermon "Birth of a Church"
was followed by Donald Procter
And Joyce Vincent taking up the
offering.
The closing hymn was Come
Holy Ghost Our Hearts Inspire
followed by the commissioning and
the Amens.
