Installing the executive Huron West District Women's Institute elected its new executive at the annual meeting in May 29, in Auburn. Erma Cartwright, first vice-president, was absent. WI hosts annual meeting The 95th Huron West District annual meeting was held at the Auburn Memorial Hall. The theme ''Communicate" was enjoyed by 56 Women's Institutes who all receive a pot plant from Co-op, Auburn and a knife from Radford's, Blyth. Mrs. Mary Nicklas, Tavistock, Provincial Board Director, ratified the district directors, and installed the officers. She also gave her activities for the year. There are 49 entries in the Quilt Competition in Milton. The winner will be announced June 14. Thirty-two entries in the song competition were received. The Women's Institute Rose will be available to 500 ladies in 1996. Ontario is twinned with Alberta which has 160 branches. A few violin selections were played by Dora Alton, Roberta Linshill of the Dungannon Branch. Jane Muegge from Rural Community Advisor spoke saying 1,000 people attended Slice of Huron. Deanna Lyon graduated from the Faculty of Education at the University of Western Ontario on Saturday, June 3. She was named to the Dean's Honour List. Attending the exercises were Murray Lyon, Bradley Lyon, Ken Brown, Laura Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, June 4 were Elgin and Joy Penfound. A musical duet by Katie Snell and Kerrie Elliott was enjoyed. The sermon topic was "Catch the The May meeting of the Happy Gang Seniors was held at the Hall on Wednesday, May 31. Officers for the 1995-96 term are: past president, Betty Archambault; president, Marjorie Anderson; 1st vice, Erma Cartwright; sec.-treasurer, Jean Nethery; asst. sec., Reta Kelland; Lyon and Edythe Beacom. There will be no WI meeting on Wednesday, June 14. Ten members of Londesboro WI attended the 95th District annual meeting at Auburn on Monday, May 29. Spirit". Next Sunday, June 11 will be Promotion and Awards Sunday as well as the church picnic. Bring food, dishes, silverware and a lawn chair. The picnic will be at George Hoggart's pond. Signs of Spring."
