A beautiful sunny day added
enjoyment to a family gathering
held Sunday, June 4 at the home of
Harvey and Deanna Snell, RR 1,
Auburn. The special dinner was
held in honour of Gene Snell's 75th
birthday.
Teen sustains
minor injuries
A Blyth girl sustained minor
injuries following a single vehicle
accident in Grey Twp. at 7:15 p.m.
on Friday.
Charlene Hulzebos, 17, was driv-
ing a 1976 Ford west on County
Road 16 at 70 km per hour.
Police say Hulzebos failed to
negotiate a curve due to the wet
pavement. Her car left the road and
ended up in the south ditch.
Damage to the car was moderate.

Motions were made at the June
meeting of the RCL Branch 420,
Blyth to donate $500 to the Special
Olympics and the Children's Aid
Society to send two children to
summer camp.
Other donations included
registration fee for the Blyth
Mosquito Soccer League to attend
the tournament in Goderich, $100
and the Children's Fishing Derby
during Country Fest in the amount
Those in attendance for the
10 a.m. Sunday service at Blyth
United Church were greeted by
Randy and Lorna Fraser. Ushers
were Fred Hakkers, and Fred
deBoer and family. Lisa Whitfield
was in charge of the junior
congregation and Laurie Sparling
the nursery. Erica Clark was at the
piano.
Call to worship was read by Rev.
Stephen Huntley. It was followed
by prayer of approach and words of
welcome.
The opening hymn as Holy Spirit
Hear Us followed by prayer of
confession repeated in unison.
Rev. Huntley described to the
children the meaning of Pentecost
and the power of the Holy Spirit in
each of them. The psalm was "Sing
a New Song to the Lord". The choir
anthem, 0 Love of God was
accompanied by Phyllis Boak,
director of music.
The New Testament lesson, 1
Corinthians 12: 3-7, was read by
Ann Elliott. Acts of the Apostles,
Acts 2: 1-21, was read by Rev.
Huntley. He based the theme of his
sermon on this. Spirit Spirit of
Gentleness was sung.

John Verwey is representing the
branch at Darts Canada in Calgary.
The branch welcomed their
newest member Rick Fedorick,
who was initiated into the branch at
this meeting.
The branch held a banquet to
honour the vets on Saturday, June
3. Members of the Legion, Past
Zone Chairman John MacDonald
and his wife joined the vets, their
wives and guests.
Upcoming events in the work of
Minute for Missions was given
by Shirley Vincent.
Sacrament of Holy Communion
was served by elders Lenora
Davidson, Les Rutledge, Joan
Clark and Bonnie Shannon. The
closing hymn was Breathe On Me,
Breath of God. Commissioning and
Benediction followed. The choral
response was "Go now in peace".
The mums were placed in
memory of Dorothy Wallace and
Gertrude Bennett by Les and
Shirley Rutledge. The congre-
gation's prayers are with Selena
Machan in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London and Mildred McNall in
Clinton Hospital.
June 8 is the UCW meeting at
2 p.m.
June 11 there is a picnic at Lions
Park, following the church service.
Anyone to assist in helping with
kitchen renovations at the manse
during the week of June 12-18,
should contact Harvey Snell or
Rev. Huntley.
The outdoor community "Praise
Service" is Sunday, June 25 at 7:30
p.m. at Lions Park. Bring a lawn
the Legion include a pub night June
10. Bring a musical instrument and
join in the activities.
Decoration Service is June 10 at
2 p.m Blyth Union Cemetery.
The Ladies Auxiliary Penny Sale
is June 21 to 24.
The Branch will once again be
holding a meat draw as a
fundraiser. Let's see all the
members getting involved with this
endeavour.

Sept. 7 at 8:30 p.m.
