B. Hayden steers reach $102, average $87.09
Sales at Brussels Livestock for
the week ending May 19 were: fed
cattle, 926; cows, 281; veal, 185;
sheep and goats, 148; stockers,
1,274; and pigs, 97.
The market at Brussels Livestock
saw top quality steers and heifers
selling under pressure at prices $2
lower, with the second cut selling
$3 lower. Cows sold $1 to $2
higher. On Thursday veal sold
steady. Lambs sold fully steady to
last week. On Friday the grass
cattle sold actively.
There were 573 steers on offer
selling from $86 to $90 to the high
of $102. Forty steers consigned by
Bill Hayden, Goderich, averaging
1,461 lbs. sold for an average of
$87.09 with sales to $102. Twenty-
one steers consigned by Cunning-
ham Farms, Lucan, averaging
1,431 lbs. sold for an average of
