Good time fun
The entertainers at the jamboree in Londesboro had as much fun as the crowd. The band
was just some of several musicians at the event held at Hulleltt Public School on Saturday
as part of a day full of activites, from bake sales to a pork chop barbecue.

Genevieve welcomed everyone.
Beth read a poem on friends.
Edythe read "Flour Sack Under-
wear" and an article on muslin
sacks.
Roll call was taken up with 10
members present. The minutes of
the April meeting were read.
Edythe gave the treasurer's report.
Ballots cast at the Advance Polls will be
counted at the close of the Regular Polls
on Election Day.
The May meeting of Londesboro
UCW was held at the church on
Monday evening, May 15 at 8 p.m.
The UCW purpose was repeated in
unison.
Tom Duizer spoke about
adopting a cabin at Camp
Menesetung. Linda Horbanuik
made a motion to adopt a cabin,
which was seconded by Kittie
MacGregor. The motion passed.
Brenda Radford read a poem,
"Take Time". The minutes of the
April meeting were read.
Brenda gave a report on the
Conference in Lambeth. Dorothy
Tamblyn gave the treasurer's
report.
Correspondence was read from
Thelma Dougherty.
A letter was read from Mandate
regarding whether members wanted
it renewed. A motion passed to do
so.
The camp experience is at Camp
Bimini, June 12.
During the month of June
members are to bring something for
the food bank. There will be a box
for this in the narthex of the church.
Bring non-perishable items only.
Greeters at Londesboro United
Church on Sunday, May 21 were
Dave and Karen Popp. Ushers were
Katie MacGregor and Susie
Salverda. Flowers at the front were
in memory of Ray Cox.
The sermon topic was "Spirit
Connections".
Senior choir practice is at 10:30
a.m. on Sunday, May 28.
Rev. Paul Ross led the service at
Knox United Church and Bernice
Gross was organist.
The flowers in the sanctuary
were from the funeral of the late
Dick Park placed there by his son,
Greg, and Nancy Park.
The Invitation to Worship was
read alternately followed by the
opening chorus. The junior choir
sang the anthem under the direction
of Shelley Worsell. They were
accompanied by pianist Bernice
Gross.
Spirit Divine was sung followed
by prayers. Rev. Ross had a story
with the children and the children's
chorus sung.
Hymn Breathe On Me Breath of
God was sung followed by the
scriptures. The next hymn was
Open Mine Eyes That I May See.
Rev. Ross's sermon was "Spirit
People
Sympathy is extended to Greg
and Nancy Park on the death of
Greg's father Dick Park last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Weber of
Stratford visited on Sunday with
Tom and Mildred Lawlor.
Mosquitoes don't fly off and die
after they bite. Throughout its
lifetime, a mosquito can bite up to
five more times. Almost every time
a mosquito feeds on a human host,
she will go and lay up to 200 eggs.
Male mosquitoes are the first to
hatch but never bite.
The worship service was
conducted by Edythe Beacom and
Joy Vodden. The theme was on V-
E Day. For the Healing of the
Nations was sung.
Scripture was read by Joy
Vodden. Edythe led in prayer. Joy
read a poem, "Let Freedom Ring."
Brenda read a piece, "Memories of
War Must Not Fade". Edythe read
"One Day is Not Enough". Pat
Hunking read an article on
Washington. Betty Archambault
read about Russia. Genevieve Allen
read about Ottawa. Margaret Good
read about the Netherlands. Mary
Vandermollen read about London,
Eng. Joy read about Berlin. Helen
Lee read about Paris. Joy read a
poem, "To my Mother". Brenda
gave a minute for missions.
Collection and birthday pennies
were taken up.
A sympathy card was signed for
Cheryl Trewartha. It was decided to
buy a cooler for drinks as well as a
thermos tea pot.
The UCW Benediction was
repeated in unison.
Lunch was served by Dorothy
Tamblyn, Margaret Wright and
Hazel Watkins
The assistance and support of
those who were involved with the
UCW bake sale on Saturday, was
appreciated.
The Sunday School pancake
breakfast is June 4. There will be
two sittings.
Promotions and Awards Sunday
will be the same day as the Church
Picnic on June 11.

church school by Charlotte Worsell
and Lisa Carter, then dedicated.

was sung and Rev. Ross pro-
nounced the Benediction.
The May meeting of the Cheerio
club was held on Wednesday, May
17. There was a lunch at the
Hillcrest Restaurant then everyone
proceeded to the home of
Genevieve Allen for the meeting.

The sympathy of the community
is extended to Cheryl and Doug
Trewartha on the passing of
Cheryl's father the late Ray Cox.
The sympathy of the community
is extended to Audrey Thompson
and family on the passing of their
husband and father, the late Robert
Thompson. Bob had been a
Londesboro resident for many
years.

There were a few crafts left from
the sale. Some were purchased and
the rest are to be kept for the
District Annual.
Grace and Queen were sung and
delicious desserts and beverages
were served by the hostesses.
The prize went to Gwen Bidwell
for digging in the garden in the
morning and Bernice Anderson for
the lucky saucer.
A social half hour was enjoyed.
The collection and draw money
was taken up. The draw, donated
by Margaret Good, was won by
Genevieve Allen. Edythe had an
oral contest on Canadian money
and another on Canadian birds.
Genevieve played several
selections on the organ.
Cards were played.
