THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 3, 1995. •- O bituaries J. LOUIS PHELAN J. Louis Phelan of Blyth, former- ly of Morris Twp., passed away Friday, April 28, 1995, at Clinton Public Hospital. An avid fisherman, he could often be seen at many of the local trout streams, enjoying the great outdoors. Before his retirement, Mr. Phelan worked as a farmer and a construc- tion worker. He was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Blyth and a former member of the Holy Name Society: Mr. Phelan was born in Morris Twp. May 8, 1924 to James Patrick Phelan and Mary Elizabeth Carbert. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Deitner, whom he mar- ried June 11, 1947 at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Brussels, the dear father of MaryAnn and Ullrich Dannhaeuser of London, James Phelan of Morris Twp., William and Ann Phelan of Goderich, Margie and Ross Young of RR3 Goderich and Joseph Phe- lan of Blyth and the loving grandfa- ther of Marie Dannhaeuser, Jeff and Brad Phelan, Terrianne Young and Jason, Joel, Jeremy and Justin Phelan. He was the dear brother of Mary (Mrs. Cyril Boyle) of St. Augus- tine. Mr. Phelan rested at Beattie-Fal- coner Funeral Home "Tastier Chapel". Funeral mass was held at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Blyth, Monday, May 1, at 2 p.m., with Father Mark Poulin officiating. Pallbearers were his six grand- sons, Jeff, Brad, Jason, Joel, Jere- my and Justin Phelan. Interment was at St. Michael's Cemetery, Morris Twp. GERTRUDE ALICE "TRUDY" MACNEIL Gertrude Alice "Trudy" MacNeil died suddenly on Tuesday, April 25, 1995. The former Trudy Crack of Brechin, Ontario was the beloved wife of Leo Hector MacNeil. She was the mother of Kevin and his wife Sanay of Brechin, Kathy and her husband Paul Nichol of Brussels and John David of Guelph and grandmother of Jeremy, Kristin, Kathleen and Ethan. Mrs. MacNeil was the beloved sister of Robert and his wife Phyllis, David and his wife Phyllis of Richmond and Miriam of Dixville. Another sister, Joyce, pre- deceased her. The family received friends at the Mangan Funeral Home, Beaverton on Thursday from 7 - 9 p.m. and Friday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Parish prayers were held at the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m. Funeral mass was held at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Brechin on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment was at St. Andrew's Cemetery, Brechin. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetic Association would be appreciated by the family. VERNON HUPFER Vernon Hupfer, formerly of Wroxeter and Brussels, passed away at Braemar Retirement Centre on Friday, April 28, 1995. He was in his 87th year. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth McDonald and the dear brother of Evelyn Hupfer of Wingham. He is survived by three nieces, two nephews and two step- daughters. Mr. Hupfer was predeceased by his sisters and brothers, John, Mary and Ada Hupfer, Katie Griffith, Elva and Lloyd Hupfer, Aran McMichael, Harry Hupfer, and , ' Orvilla McCutcheon and by his parents Robert and Magdalena Hupfer. Rev. Cameron McMillan officiat- ed at the service on April 30, 1995 at McBurney Funeral Home,Wing- ham. Interment was at Wroxeter Cemetery.
