Dora Shobbrook, who was president of the Londesboro United Church Women's
Association in 1952 has donated a quilt, which the Association had done at the time, to the
church. Members of the congregation had paid to have their names included on the quilt.
Rev. Paul Ross dedicated this piece of the church's history, which is on display in the
church narthex, the past Sunday. The cabinet holding it was built and donated by local
resident and church member Sam Dougherty, left.

The junior choir sang Jesus
Loves Me. The sermon topic was
"Risky Business".
Rev. Paul Ross dedicated the

The April meeting of Londesboro
Cheerio Club was held on
Wednesday, April 19.
Lunch was at the Hillcrest
Restaurant, then members proceed-
ed to the. home of Vietta Hoggart.
Vietta welcomed everyone and
gave a reading on spring dreams.
The minutes of the March
meeting were read. Roll call was
Local Liberals and well-wishers
turned out in force to the grand
opening of Huron provincial
Liberal candidate John Jewitt's
campaign headquarters, April 15.
Pipers from the Clinton Legion
Pipe Band drew the crowds to the
location on Victoria Street in town.
Jewitt and former provincial
Liberal cabinet minister Jack
Riddell delivered speeches and cut
the red ribbon.
Riddell said, "John Jewitt has the
integrity, credibility, and experi-
ence that is required of a politician
today."
Jewitt said, "This location select-
ed for the headquarters is choice,
being central in the riding and
accessible to all. The people of

Jewitt invited all of Huron to
make use of the campaign head-
quarters that places his campaign
"in the heart of Huron." Committee
room openings will be detailed in
the future after the election writ is
announced.
The April meeting of Londesboro
UCW was held at the church on
Monday evening, April 17.
The purpose was repeated in
unison.
The worship service was
conducted by Helen Lee, Yvonne
Hoggart and Cheryl Trewartha.
Cheryl read a story on a solitary
man. Scripture readings were
given. Helen read "Is it I?"
The hymn Blessed Redeemer was
sung. Helen read The Miracle of
Easter. Edythe read an Easter
prayer. He Lives was sung. Yvonne
read another Easter piece. Cheryl
closed with prayer.
The minutes of the February
meeting and World Day of Prayer
were read. Dorothy Tamblyn gave
the treasurer's report. Thank you
was read from the choir.
The summer event is at Siloam
Church in London Saturday, July
22. Westminster weekend is June 2,
3 and 4 in London.
Bale for Goodwill will go on
May 10. Bring items by May 9.
Brenda read Minute for Missions.
Betty Hulley gave a short report
on the April event held in Seaforth.
Joanne Whyte gave a report on
Huron Perth Presbytery in
Stratford.
It was decided that the group
split the cost of flowers to be given
to all ladies on Mother's Day, with
the Sunday School.
The UCW Benediction was
repeated in unions. Grace was
sung.
Lunch was served by Betty
Hulley, Margaret Good and Lena
Nesbitt.
Longtime Liberals speak
at office grand opening
Next Sunday is National Camp-
ing Sunday. A special offering of
Canadian Tire money will be
received.
Session and Committee of
Stewards is to meet Tuesday, May
2 at 8 p.m. in the Sunday School
room. The official board is to meet
that same night at 9 p.m.
