Sparks play Easter games
Aaron Marc Bakker of Belgrave
United Church was also welcomed
into full membership through
confirmation on Easter Sunday.
Mabels Moms met at the home of
Mabel Wheeler on Wednesday,
April 19.
Attending were: Andrea Steven-
son, Mathew and Tyler; Joanne
Robinson, Nicole and Stephanie;
Waneta Leishman and Melissa;
Lila Procter and Ben; Donna
Raynard, Trevor and Heidi; Julie
Van Camp, Jeanine and Jordan;
Sherrie Shiell, Matthew and Ryan;
Melanie Pletch, Megan and Ben;
Sandra Dorsch and Melinda.
Rev. Mary Jane Hobden was also
in attendance.
The topic discussed was
differences between husbands and
wives.
Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Makas and
Alicia, Megan Grover of London
and Mrs. Mabel Wheeler motored
to Akron, Ohio to visit Mr. and
Mrs. Tibor Oravec and Kristen on
Easter weekend.
Easter visitors for supper on
Saturday evening with Mr. and
Mrs. Don Procter and family,
Belgrave were Mr. and Mrs. Alvin
Procter, Doug and Debbie Procter
of Egmondville, Faye Procter of
London, Wayne Procter of Culross
and Ken and Lila Procter, Andrew
and Ben.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Lamont of
London, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lamont,
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Cottrill and
family were Easter Sunday supper
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
McCrea and Mrs. Winnie Vincent
of Blyth.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sproule of
Bayfield and Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Walker of Goderich called on their
uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
Stonehouse.
Mr. and Mrs. Walker also called
on Mr. and Mrs. Ab Cook on
Wednesday, April 19.
The Reverend and Mrs. John
A prelude of familiar hymns was
played by Ann Spivey organist as
the worshippers gathered on
Sunday, April 23 in the Knox
United Church.
The orders of service were
distributed by Mrs. Ida Procter and
Florence McArter, who greeted the
people as they entered the church.
Rev. Mary Jane Hobden
welcomed everyone and extended a
warm welcome to anyone visiting
with members and friends of the
congregation. Song time was
followed by Call to Worship and
Prayer of Approach. The hymn of
praise was sung, As Comes the
Breath of Spring.
Rev. Mary Jane Hobden
announced that the church have
received a request for financial and
spiritual assistance from a first
year. Queen's University medical
student by the name of Emma
Hollingworth. Emma has been
chosen to go to Shana, West Africa
with Christian Children's Fund for
a 10 week term to work with
people of severe poverty. As part of
her terms of participation in the
project Emma must raise her share
of the costs, $4,500. She has
written to all of the church in the
area as she is from Goderich,
requesting their assistance. Emma
has indicated that all donations are
tax deductible.
The choir of mixed voices
favoured the congregation with
Take it to the Lord in Prayer,
accompanied by Ann Spivey on
Roberts attended the Good Friday
service and hymn singing festival
in Dewi Sant United Church,
Toronto on Easter weekend. They
also visited with their family
members in Hamilton and
Binbrook and attended the Easter
Sunday Service with them.
Derek Koehler, son of Travis and
Janet celebrated his sixth birthday
at McDonald's in Hanover last
Saturday. Friends attending were
Kyle Jamieson, Brandon
Kellington, Christopher Campbell,
Trevor McArter, Travis's sister
Tamara and Mom and Dad.
On Sunday, supper guests at the
Koehler home included John and
Marie McIntosh, Heather McIntosh
and Rod Jones and Katie Mullin for
a birthday celebration.
Katie was an overnight guest of
Tamara Koehler.
Visitors at the home of Jack
VanCamp last Sunday were Jackie
VanCamp of London, Johanna,
Jacob and Nicholas Schurter of
Greenock, Kay VanCamp,
Johnathan, Ryan and Joshua Van
Camp, Norman Davidson of
Glencoe and Joel, Julie, Jordan and
Jeanine VanCamp.
Norman Davidson spent a couple
of days with Mr. and Mrs. Clare
VanCamp of Brussels.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Pletch of
Dryden spent the past week with
Max's mother, Mrs. Thelma Pletch.
They also visited with other family
members.
Andrea Pletch returned home
with her parents after spending the
past year at the College in
Ridgetown.
Weekend guests at the home of
Thelma Pletch were Gibb and Irene
Sauve of Willowdale.
Mr. and Mrs. David Ireland of
Teeswater visited Sunday evening
with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
Stonehouse.
Family members of Beth Procter
attended the homecoming service at
piano.
Ross Anderson then read
scripture verses Acts 5, 27-32.
I am the Light of the World was
rendered by the congregation.
Rev. Mary Jane spent time with
the children, who gathered in the
front pews. She asked them if they
would believe that she rode an
elephant to church if they saw one
at the front of the church.
Then she demonstrated with air
tight bags filled with water that you
could slowly put a pencil through
the bag without it leaking out.
Some of the children took part and
were totally amazed at what they
had seen. It was demonstrating to
the children, "The need to believe"
as did the sermon which followed.

Shannon Cook and Sarah Cowan.
To conclude the service the closing
hymn was Hail Thou Once-
Despised Jesus.
Plan to attend "Musical
Moments" an evening of music and
Knox United Church at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 13. Tickets are
available from members of both
sessions. The evening will include
performances by many different
groups from the churches and the
area.
Phil Main will be entertaining
with some of the music from the
tape he and his friends, Amy
Bateman and Andrea Gaunt
produced.
the Trinity Anglican Church in
Belgrave on Sunday, April 23.
These included Mrs. Ron Hill of
RR 1, Tavistock, Miss Irish
Johnson of London, Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Zettler, Sherry, Amanda,
Alicia of RR 4, Walkerton, Mr. and
Mrs. Stopforth of Oakville and
Alexandria and Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Procter and Karen, RR 5, Brussels.
Later, most of the family returned
to Beth Procter's for a social time.
The First Belgrave Guides met
on Thursday, April 20 at the
Belgrave arena. They enjoyed guest
speakers Molly Norgate and
Eugene Fenton, talking about the
hazards of drinking and driving.
They were representing OSAID. To
complete a challenge the second
year Guides had invited them to
attend their meeting.
Bruce and Lenore Elliott of
Arkona, Gordon and Louise Elliott
ofTavistock, and Kay Lee Hanlon
and Mitchell visited last Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Yuill.
Ashley Irwin of Ashfield Twp.
spent last weekend at the home of
her grandmother, Mrs. Betty Irwin.

played Easter games with the
Brownie and Sparks the Thursday
evening before Easter.
Lianne Swanson helped the girls
make a yellow porn porn chicken in
an egg carton. Alice Yuill helped
them make a bunny on a popsicle
stick.
Connie Dawson organized an
Easter egg hunt. Sandra Dorsch
made Easter egg nests with Rice
Krispies and put Easter eggs in
them.
On Thursday, April 19, Kerry
Hill from Wingham Pathfinders,
spoke on her trip to Switzerland
where she spent last summer. She
stayed at Our Chalet.
She brought with her pictures,
souvenirs and badges from around
the world. The girls thanked her by
doing the "Grand Howl" And also
presented her with a gift of Girl
Guide cookies.
The girls discussed places they
had been and how they had got
there. Earth Day was also
discussed.
The Brownies will be cleaning
the neighbourhood up on May 4.
Happy Birthday was sung to
Nicole Meier and Lauren Walker.
They closed with Taps and went
home.
