PAGE 9. The news from ondesboro Ecomo UCW plans auction The Auburn UCW met at the church on Monday evening, April 10. There were several guests including many former members from Goderich. On display were numerous layette articles, which are mainly for Community Care. Ann Vincent opened the worship service on Stewardship. She asked everyone to name qualities needed for this. Her daughter Lea Ann then sang the theme song of Camp Menesetung The First of the Spirit a stewardship song. Prayer followed this and hymn He Lives was sung with Nancy Park as pianist. Fruits for each kind of stewardship were placed on an evergreen tree. Ann spoke on each and read the appropriate Biblical verse on it, which was followed by a reading "Remember to be a Steward". Everyone was asked to come forward to take from the tree the stewardship most needed by them and to speak on it. Ann closed by saying that stewardship is needed in all church work. President Lillian Hallam welcomed all and gave a reading "Consider the Lilies". Reports of the secretary and treasurer were given and approved. Ruth Armstrong thanked all for the Rev. Paul Ross conducted the Easter Service at Knox United Church and Bernice Gross was organist and Nancy Park was numerous gifts with special thanks to Jean Plaetzer and Grace Cartwright who had arranged the display. Ruth pointed out the articles for the Teddy Bear auction for which tickets are available. The country supper was a real success. Nancy Park thanked all who donated and assisted. Lillian spoke on her visit to Seaforth where Rev. Wittmer showed slides and spoke on his experience in Japan. April 22 will be Women's Day at Blyth and the annual UCW meeting will beheld in Lambeth on April 24 and 25. On May 17 several members will go to see and do necessary work at the cabin at Camp Menesetung. Ruth Jardin gave her card report and told that the Co-op again donated the Easter Lilies for the church. Ruth Jardin also has an outlet for all kinds of usual cards. Three booklets on Women's concern were shown by Lillian. These are available for worship. Business closed with prayer, followed by the Grace. Darlene Empey assisted by Ann Vincent served a delicious dessert and beverage. pianist. The sanctuary was adorned with Easter lilies, donated by Auburn Continued on page 17 WI meets The April meeting of Londesboro WI was held at the Hall on Wednesday, April 12. They opened with the Opening Ode and Grace, followed by a pot luck meal. Leita Wiley served as President in the absence of Lois Elliott. The Mary Stewart Collect was repeated in unison. Leita read a poem on spring. The minutes of the 1994 annual meeting and March meetings were given by Reta Kelland. Reta also gave the financial report. The Blood Clinic is April 20 at Clinton High SChool. Aug. 8 is the date for the Historical display at Holmesville. Plans were made to give something to the shutins at this time of year. It was moved by Josephine and seconded by Marjorie that Reta Kelland, Elizabeth Lawson and June Fothergill as press reporter be given an honorarium. The next Lions' meal is April 20. It was moved by Ella, seconded by Betty, that the institute increase its investment by $300. The report of the Tweedsmuir Committee was read by Helen Dale. Leita Wiley gave the Pro report. Elizabeth Lawson gave the card report. Marjorie Anderson gave the programme report. Reta Kelland gave the treasurer's report for 1994-95. The auditor's report was given by Betty Hulley. Josephine gave the nomination report. The District President Betty Archambault spoke. She read a poem, "Life is like a Garden," then installed the new officers. Roll call was done by paying the annual fees. Leita had a contest and a reading "65 and Counting". Community extends sympathies The sympathy of the community is extended to Mary McDougall of Seaforth Manor on the passing of her husband, the late Jake McDougall of Seaforth Manor. The McDougalls were Londesboro residents for many years. Londesboro Men's Bowling League held its annual banquet and trophy presentation on Thursday, April 13. Supper was served by the Londesboro Women's Institute. The number one team was the Chevs: Hank Reinink, Bill Roy, Doug Trewartha, Dan Reid, Doug McClinchey, Henry Wilts. Playoff winners were the Buicks: Dennis Wilts, Bill Lee, Bert Greidanus, Murray Howatt, Bryan Marriage, Herman Reinink. Individual winners were: high average, Bill Lee, 221; high triple, Bob Szusz, 802; high single, Jack Potter, 351; most improved, Brian Pickard, +11. Perfect attendance awards went to: Ed DeJong, Dennis Penfound, Jack Potter, Herman Greidanus, Hank Vandereijk, Dave Button, Harold McClinchey, Bill Lee, Dennis Wilts, Herman Reinink, Doug McClinchey, Doug Tre- wartha, Henry Wilts, Frank Szusz, Jack Lee, Ton Vandevusse, Bob Szusz, Doug Snell. They went to the bowling alley for three fun games after the banquet. Lyons greet Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, April 16 were Bert and Joanne Lyon. Ushers were Harve and Yvonne Hoggart. Flow- ers on the memorial stand were in loving memory of Helen Lawson. The sermon topic was "What a Glorious Day."
