Wawanosh does cleanup A problem with garbage from the West Wawanosh landfill site being deposited on a neighbouring prop- erty was addressed by council at the April 4 meeting. Council will seek permission from the property owner, B. Grier- son, to enter the property on occa- sion, when necessary, to clean up litter from the landfill site. A fence will be installed along the westerly boundary of the site. The Maitland Valley conserva- tion Authority and the Ministry of Natural Resources will be informed that A.J. Sherwood has filed a peti- tion regarding drainage on his farm south of Dungannon. It was requested that any further action be deferred for one month. Repayment for the Dungannon drainage work was assessed as fol- lows: under $1,000 shall be due and payable within 60 days of the mailing date of the notice of assess- ment and for assessments over $1,000, the first $500 shall be due within 60 days. The remainder may be amortized over three, five or 10 years. Councillors Gordon Hunt and Doug Miller will sit on the court of Revision for Dungannon Drainage Works, to be held May 4. The drainage report by Maitland Engineering Services was adopted by council. A problem, brought for- ward by property owner Albert Taylor, is to be resolved by the County of Huron. Mr. Taylor was advised to con- tact the county engineer for a reso- lution. The tender submitted by Da-Lee Dust Control was accepted by council. The quote for 180 flake tons of liquid calcium chloride was set at $188.90 plus GST. The township supported three resolutions put forth by other orga- nizations. The first was in support of the Drainage Superintendents Associa- tion's petition to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans. The petition asks the federal gov- ernment to consider amending the application of the Fisheries Act to municipal drains in Ontario because of the detrimental effect the act has with respect to munici- palities maintaining, repairing and improving drains. Council also supports the City of Brampton's petition to the provin- cial government to delay imple- mentation of Bill 163, Local Gov- ernment Disclosure of Interest Act, until it can be harmonized with Bill 209. The Member's Integrity Act, Bill 209, appears to have different rules affecting the conduct of elected officials at the provincial and municipal levels, claims Bramp- ton's petition. The Anglers and Hunters of Ontario's strong opposition to Canada's Action Plan on Firearms Control was supported by council. The group insists the government abandon the sections of the plan. which affect the continued owner- ship and legal use of firearms by responsible Canadians. The road and general accounts were approved for payment in the amounts of $25,642.55 and $52,784.57, respectively. T TENDERS T TENDERS
