The North Street Church choir from Goderich, performed several selections at the 15th annual songfest. The King's Messengers from Millbank, Cheryl Goff of Goderich and the Music Makin' Moms of Tara joined with the Londesboro Junior Choir in filling the church with music. The meeting will be held: Place - Belgrave Women's Institute Hall Date Monday, April 17, 1995 Time - 8:00 p.m. Anyone with an interest in the proposed Airport Development is urged to attend. Londesboro and area ladies bowling banquet was held on Tuesday, April 4 at 6 p.m. The Blue Fountain served a delicious meal after which the players proceeded to the bowling alley for one regular game and one game of bingo bowling. The number one team was The Jumping Beans, comprised of Rita Verburg, Josie MacGregor, Agnes Doherty, Lisa Sherred and Charlene Hoover. Coming second was the Cabbage Rolls. Team members were Carol Munnings, Reah Reinink, Gerry Dale, Marjorie Berry and Rhonda Forbes. Of the 20 bowlers, 18 had perfect attendance for 78 games. They Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, April 9 were Doug and Cheryl Trewartha. Ushers were Murray and Joan Howatt and Larry and Cheryl Hoggart. Holy Communion was held. Three new members, Hermann and Gretel Heinrich and Jeff Roetcisoender, were received by transfer. The confirmation class of 14 were received as members of Londesboro United Church. They are David Bolinger, Lucas Bolinger, Debra Hoggart, Erica The Brussels-Morris-Grey (BMG) Diabetes Project is a co- operative venture involving: The BMG Medical Dental Centre Board and the Wm. Ether Somers bequest for diabetic education and equip- ment; local diabetics and their families, interested persons; volunteer helpers; Marguerite Thomas, public health nurse, community development project resource consultant; Nelva Scott, project co-ordinator; public agencies and resource people well- informed on diabetic needs. In 1994, the BMG Medical Dental Centre Board approached Marguerite Thomas from the Huron County Health Unit for help with community development in carrying out the wishes of the bequest from Mr. Somers. Funds are available for diabetic education and equipment for residents for Brussels, Morris and Grey. The first information meeting was held in October and local resources and needs were explored. Following this, several members attended a two-day diabetic workshop at Wingham Hospital. In November, a catered dinner was held at Huronlca with Deb Campbell, home economist, giving a talk on recipe variations. In December, Sheryl Forrest, certified diabetic educator, met the group and gave an interesting and seasonal talk on "Diabetics thriving through the holidays". People Roy and Marie Krauter attended the wedding of their son, Kevin to Diane McPhail, last week in Bloomington, Indiana. Best wishes to the happy couple. Meditation was "What a Great Day." The Senior Youth Group will meet at the manse Monday, April 10 beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Senior choir will practice Sunday, April 16 at 10:15 p.m. Good Friday service is at Knox United Church Auburn on April 14 at 10 a.m. ordinator. By January, there were 45 members and it was time for an organizational meeting. The following volunteer groups were formed: telephone, resource centre, outreach/liaison, drivers, mailing, refreshments, and speakers/meals/ special events. Also at the January meeting, Marguerite Thomas introduced two programs to the group. Active Sitting and Living Well started Jan. 31 with 10 members. The Active Sitting portion is a half hour of physical activity which his a workout for anyone but especially designed for people who may have some physical limitations. The Living Well part is an eight- week series of health education which covers topics such as nutrition, physical activity, relaxation techniques, stress management and safety. The guest speaker in February was Thea Trick who gave a very informative talk on caring for your feet. Approximately 25 members attend each meeting and anyone interested is invited to attend whether diabetic, spouse of diabetic or just interested person. Later in February, eight members attended a "Diabetic Education Day" at the Stratford Hospital. Recently two new blood sugar monitoring machines were purchased as well as an automatic blood pressure monitoring The 15th annual songfest was held in Londesboro United Church on Sunday evening, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. Master of Ceremonies was Rev. Paul Ross. Organist was Marsha Szusz and pianist was Barbara Bosman. Rev. Ross welcomed everyone A new agreement was developed between the Hullett Athletic Asso- ciation and the township for the organization of the minor ball pro- gram. Councillors agreed, at the April 4 meeting, to authorize the associa- tion to act on behalf of the town- before they all joined in singing Let us sing of a wonderful love. Members are encouraged to be as informed as possible about their own self-care and our resource library has free booklets in which they can keep track of their own patient records. These machines were on display and used at the March 21 meeting. Members are invited to use them at the Health Unit either on Fridays or by calling to make an appointment. Guest presenter, Anita Gurnick from the Huron-Bruce Diabetic Association spoke about the local chapter and shared the newest guidebook for diabetic menu planning. She invited everyone to the next chapter meeting which will be held on May 1 in Wingham. Ms Gurnick brought along numerous and very useful resources. Fred Crawford and Betty Graber, a contact person, gave reports from the "Diabetic Education Day" which generated a lively discussion period and social.time. Interested diabetics will be sent to the next diabetic workshops which Barbara Major-McEwan will hold at Wingham Hospital on May 2 and 3. Meetings are scheduled for the third Tuesday evening of each month at 7:30 p.m. except July and August. Dr. Brian Hanlon will be guest speaker in April along with a special surprise to be announced.
