THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 12, 1995. PAGE 9. Club members finish 2 quilts Rev. Paul Ross conducted the service at Knox United Church with Nancy Park was organist. Hosanna, Loud Hosanna was sung. Rev. Ross gave the prayers followed by choral response. Rev. Ross had conversation with the children and the children's chorus was sung. The scriptures were read. The senior choir sang an anthem. Rev. Ross' meditation was "What a Great Day!" The celebrating of confirmation took place with those confirmed being John Armstrong, Rachel Arthur and Craig Empey. A prayer followed that the confirmation class had written. Reaffirming Our Faith was read in unison. Holy Communion then took place. The offering was received by Michael Bakker and Greg Park then dedicated with song. Ride On, Ride On in Majesty! was sung. Rev. Ross pronounced the benediction and singing of amen's concluded the service. Gifts for the "Easter Baskets" for shut-ins should be given to Hort. Soc. hosts dist meeting The Horticultural Society is holding its district annual at Knox Presbyterian Church, Goderich on Saturday, April 29 with registration from 9 - 9:30 a.m. There will be a roast beef dinner. Anyone able to attend should contact Dorothy Grange by April 15. WI plans banquet The Auburn Women's Institute meeting and banquet will be held at the Kountry Kettle Restaurant, Blyth on Thursday, April 20 at 12:15 p.m. Each convenor is to have reports ready to give that day. Huron East WI hales quilt show great success Huron East District WI members are haling their recent quilt show, "Stitches of Time", a success. Even though tickets for the quilt draw were Sold from Alberta to Thunder Bay and all areas of south- ern Ontario, the quilt stayed in Huron County. Sharon Kelly of Fordwich held the lucky ticket which was drawn by provincial Tweedsmuir Curator Marcie John- ston of Britton. Not only were the quilts on dis- play from the branches in Huron East, but from ladies in the commu- nity as well. One hundred and forty-two quilts were viewed by 175 visitors. There was also an old doll display and the quilt top Huron East District branches made in 1992, which is owned by a past president of the district Ruth Hard- ing, who had it made into a quilt. Visitors were treated to a wide variety of sweets when they sat at the tea tables which were set up in the church basement. The profits from the show arc to help Huron East District support WI work. Maureen Bean before Thursday, April 13. Cash, fruit and goodies are needed. Baskets must be packed and delivered before Easter. A Good Friday service will be held at Auburn United Church on April 14 at 10 a.m. On March 30 the Walkerburn Club met at the home of Vera Penfound. It was a quilting bee and two quilts were finished and another is to be done. These are gifts for charity. Ethel Ball opened the meeting reading three poems, "The Lion or the Lamb", "Signs of Spring" and "Mail Order Season". Betty Archambault read the minutes of the last meetings which were approved. The draw, donated by Ethel Ball, was won by Aileen McClinchey. The April meeting will be at Christina Gross's home. Vera and Ethel will have the program and Bernice Norman and Kay Lapp will be the lunch convenors. Two poems were read by Bernice, "A Gift for Anyone" and There were five tables in play at the Auburn Community Hall on Tuesday evening, April 4. Winners were: high lady, Susan Schultz; low lady, Frances Clark; high man, Effie McCall (playing as a man); low man, Hazel Watkins (playing as a man); novelty prize, Heather Hakkers. "This is Enough". When the quilts were finished Betty Archambault and Betsy Verwey served lunch and a social half hour was enjoyed. Euchre is played Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. Tops meet The Silver Tops pot luck dinner will be held on Wednesday, April 19 at noon. 20 gather for euchre
