Doug Scrimgeour outbid the crowd for the stick autographed by Doug Gilmour while Chamney Sanitation and Disposal dug deep to acquire the Easton stick autographed by Wayne Gretzky. Needless to say it was an expensive street hockey game played on Auburn's main street Saturday morning as "Richard Gilmour" faced off against "Bud Gretzky." The Bulldogs' Hockey Memorabilia Raffle in the lobby met with great success throughout the weekend and culminated with the drawing of the winners at the Lions Novice Tournament on Saturday afternoon. With community support like the Bulldogs have received during their various fundraisers, Blyth and By Rusty Blades There was an air of nostalgia at the Blyth and District Community Centre on St. Patrick's day as the Blyth Midget Bulldogs hosted their 'Relive The Dream' Reunion hockey game. The 71-72 Pee Wees and the 92-93 Bantams squared off in this FUNdraiser for the Bulldogs' Lake Placid Cup Tournament trip in mid-April. The memories came flooding back as these two Blyth OMHA Championship teams highlighted a very entertaining evening of fun and fellowship. It was great to see names like Marshall, Bromley, Howson, McNichol, Pierce, Arthur et al, once again grace the Blyth ice. The 71-72 Pee Wees showed the 92-93 Bantams a trick or two as they kept their winning streak intact with a 6-4 win. Although it took him 23 years to finally earn a regular shift, a well rested Doug McClinchey led the Pee Wee assault with two goals and three assists. He claimed after the game that if he had gotten this -nuch ice time in '72 the final series would have been a three game sweep. He teamed with the Bromley twins, Brad and Brian, who played tic-tac-toe with the puck all night long and each notching a goal. Steve Howson, Steve Bromley and Tom Pollard formed the Pee Wees other line with Pollard and Bromley denting the twine. The defensive pairings of Ken Stewart, Dale Whitfield, Terry Pierce and Phil Arthur were solid throughout with the smoothness of Arthur and Pierce still 'wowing' them after all these years. This brings us to goaltender Sandy Marshall, who used borrowed equipment, survived a nervous start before stoning the younger Bantams the rest of the way. Bench strategy was handled by Coach Bill Rodger, Manager Charlie Bromley, and Coach Ted Williams, who guided this group in Bantam as they finished as OMHA Runnersup in 73-74. Unable to make the game due to previous commitments were Larry Howatt, Keith Howatt, Terry Powell and Garry Manning. Joining current Bulldogs from the 92-93 Bantam team were Jason McDougall and Brian McNichol. The management team consisted of coach Wayne McDougall, assistant coach Peter deJong, trainer, Al Craig and manager Doug Chamney. . Scoring for the Bantams were Christopher Howson, Brad Anderson and Ryan Chamney with two. Jason Rutledge was the big playmaker with three helpers on the evening. Master of Ceremonies for the Reunion game was. John Stewart and he introduced long-time Blyth hockey supporter Jack Lee who dropped the ceremonial first puck. Dave Cook and Doug Scrimgeour enjoyed the refereeing experience, once again proving that you don't need 20/20 vision to be a competent arbitrator. There was just as much excitement in the arena lobby during the intermission as auctioneer Burt Lobb squeezed every last nickel out of four very successful bidders in the Memorabilia Auction. Jane Bromley bought the NHL Players
