Grey council hosts euchre
The Huron County Board of Education
FRENCH IMMERSION
Based on interest levels shown, French Immersion will be available in
Grade 5 at Robertson Memorial Public School and Grades 5 and 6 at
Exeter Public School. The program will begin in September 1995
provided there is sufficient enrolment and available classroom space.
Parents of eligible students can pick up registration forms at any public
elementary school in the county.
Information meetings will be held at Robertson Memorial Public School
in Goderich on Monday, April 3rd, 1995, at 7:00 p.m. and Exeter Public
School on Tuesday, April 4th, 1995, at 7:00 p.m.
A decision on whether or not to begin the program will be based on the
number of registrations submitted by Friday, April 7th, 1995.

Sex charge brings guilty plea
Ontario play OLC games. For
every $1 spent on a lottery ticket,
about 30 cents is made available for
worthy projects across Ontario.
Since 1975, lottery players have
helped generate $6.1 billion profit,
which supports the operation of
Ontario hospitals, voluntary social
service organizations through The
Trillium Foundation, and cultural,
sport and recreational activities in
the province.
The Ontario Lottery Corporation
is a Crown corporation responsible
for operating lottery games in
Ontario. Provincial legislation
prohibits the sale of lottery tickets
to anyone under 18 years of age.

Alice Keffer, a grandmother of
20, won $10,000 playing Instant
Bingo. "I am excited," the Ethel
resident said when she picked up
her cheque this week at the Ontario
Lottery Corporation's Toronto Prize
Office.
Mrs. Keffer, a semi-retired
farmer, is a mother of eight. She
and her husband, Lloyd, plan to
bank the money for now. The
winning ticket was purchased at
Brussels Variety on Turnberry
Street in Brussels.
To date, Instant Bingo has
generated over $326 million in
sales and players have claimed
more than $156.9 million in prizes.
More than half the adults in
Grey Twp. council hosted 13
tables of euchre Monday evening at
the Ethel Hall.
The 50/50 draw winners were
Isobel Gray, Doug Hemingway and
Leola Harrison.
Table prize winners were: Harold
Metcalfe, . Frank McKenzie,
Dorothy Hamilton, Hilda Holmes.
Other winners were: high lady,
Helen Dobson; high man, Marjorie
McCourt; low lady, Margaret
Barrett; low man, Mac Smith; lone
hands, Betty Coulter and John

WI meets
The agriculture meeting of the
Molesworth WI began with lunch
out at Roadhouse 23 followed by a
visit to Dorianne's a craft shop near
Listowel.
A business meeting followed at
the home of secretary Jennie
Dekker. President Isobel Hislop
held a discussion on the Slice of
Huron, April 10-13 at Seaforth and
the District Annual in Molesworth
May 9.
Marguerite Beimes gave a report
of the quilt meeting she attended.
Each branch was asked to show at
least 10 quilts in the Stitches of
Time quilt show on March 24.
As the Town and Country
Homemakers are no longer under
the umbrella of the United Way
they are asking for support through
information letters. It was decided
to send a donation.
A Londesboro area woman pled
guilty to one count of invitation for
sexual touching involving a minor
male.
Barb Vandcrlei of RR 1 Londes-
boro, appeared in Wingham court
on March 15, to face the charges.
Crown Attorney Robert Morris
told the court that the incidents
came to the attention of the Chil-

seniors meet
The Wingham Seniors Happy
Gang met on Friday, March 10 at
the Armouries. They opened by
singing 0 Canada and Tom Smith
asked the blessing as they sat down
to a delicious pot luck dinner.
A contest on knowing local
"celebrities" was won by Eleanor
and Raymond Neill.
President Jean Robertson
welcomed everyone and read an
Irish poem called "The Four Leaf
Clover". Secretary Margaret
McVittie read the minutes of the
last meeting and roll call was
answered by 34 members and 13
visitors.
It was decided to make a
donation to the Town and Country
Homemakers.
A euchre party is set for Tuesday,
March 21 at 1:30 at the Armouries.
On Tuesday, March 28 the seniors
will go to Huronlea at Brussels to
entertain for their March birthday
party. A bus trip to Paris to see the
Walter's Family has been arranged
for Thursday, May 4. Margaret
McVittie can be contacted for
tickets.
Doris Bushill introduced and
welcomed guests, Earl and Martha
Heywood. They showed old
pictures, story books, some true,
some fictions, and sang several
songs of the Donnellys at Lucan.
They were thanked by Annie Conn. -
The next meeting will be Friday,
April 7.

Miss Vanderlei had been babysit-
ting the boy, during December of
1990 when she invited the then
seven-year-old to engage in inter-
course with her.
The boy agreed, says Crown
Attorney Morris.
Miss Vanderlei asked the child to
go to the bedroom with her on four
separate occasions and on the fifth
time was interrupted by one of the
other children in her care.
The child was told to leave the
room.
A sixth encounter took place.
Miss Vanderlei's attorney, Allan
Mill, requested the court hold sen-
tencing until a pre-sentence report
could be submitted.
She will return to court on April
19 for sentencing.
