Huron County Soil and Crop
Improvement Association will be
marking the first day of spring
(March 21) with a Spring Crops
Update at the Seaforth Agricultural
Society Building. This will be the
third year for this popular meeting
which combines the latest in crop
research with practical farmer
experience.
This year, one of the feature
speakers will be Gordon Scheifele,
from Ridgetown College, who will
be sharing results of a three year
study on narrow row corn and
changes to populations. Huron
County farmers who have changed
Ontario producers who purchased
crop insurance in 1994 will receive
their crop insurance renewal
information in the mail within the
next week.
"Growers receiving this package
should read their renewal informa-
tion very carefully, as it requires
farmers to make decisions regard-
ing their insurance by April 1," said
Greg Brown, general manager of
the Crop Insurance Commission.
Farmers who were insured in
1994 will have their coverage
automatically renewed at the same
level for 1995. If they wish to
maintain the same level of
coverage on these crops in 1995,
they do not have to return their
Renewal or Change Notice to the
commission.
If farmers do not wish to renew
their insurance on one or more
crops, the signed and dated Change
Notice must be returned by Apr. 1,
indicating their decision. A farmer
not planning to grow one or more
of the crops that were insured last
year does not need to inform the
commission. However, this infor-
mation must be reported on the
Final Acreage Report, completed
after planting.
Those farmers wanting to change
the level of coverage on crops
insured last year or insure
additional crops (other than those
listed on their Renewal Notice)
must submit their Change Notice
to narrow row corn will also share
their practical experience.

rates on red wheat, soybean
extrusion and a market update for
grains and oilseeds will also be
included on the program.
Registration will begin at 9:30
a.m. on Tuesday, March 21 and the
program will be completed by 3
p.m.
Please register by phoning the
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture,
Food and Rural Affairs office in

indicated in the appropriate section
of the signed and dated Change
Notice form.

Commission by fax to (416) 326-
3133 or by mail (postmarked) by
the appropriate deadline.

payment for forages is due May 1.

premium must accompany the Final
Acreage Report, which will be
