Each year a committee chooses an outstanding citizen from each of the Blyth and Brussels communities to receive an award for contribution to the community. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8, 1995. A milestone Edwin Wood was the guest of honour on Sunday afternoon at an Open House in Londesboro to celebrate his 90th birthday. The annual meeting of Londes- boro United Church was held in the Sunday School room on Tuesday evening, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Chairman was Bob Trick. Record- ing secretary Rota Kelland read last year's minutes. Jim Jamieson is to look after the PA system. Shuffleboard was held at Hullett Public School on Wednesday, March 1. High lady was Geraldine Dale and high man was Roy Krauter. The regular WI euchre was held at the hall on Friday evening, March 3 at 8 p.m. There were 10 tables of euchre. Winners were: ladies' high, Beatrice Welch; ladies' lone hands, Dorothy Daer; ladies' low, Liz Lawson; men's high, Lorne Dale; men's lone hands, Ida Godkin; men's low, Glenn Wiley. The next euchre is March 17. The sympathy of the community is extended to Bert and Joanne Lyon on the passing of Joanne's father, the late Roy Easom of Huronview. The sympathy of the community is extended to Doreen and Glen Carter and Ken and Marlene Arm- strong and families on the passing of Ken and Doreen's father, the late John Armstrong of Huronview. Mr. Armstrong was a Londesboro resi- dent for many years. Congratulations to Edwin Wood on the occasion of his 90th birthday. World Day of Prayer Service was held in the Sunday School room on Friday, March 3 at 1:30 p.m. The preface was read by Brenda Radford. Others taking part were Margaret Wright, Dorothy Tam- blyn, Beth Knox, Bernice Norman and Pat Hunking. The theme was "The Earth is a House for all People." Greeters at Londcsboro United Church on Sunday, March 5 were Carl and Lena Nesbitt. Ushers were Don and Joan Goodall. A men's choir sang Church in the Wildwood and Glory, Glory Hallelujah. The sermon topic was "It's Tempting". Choir practice is at 10:25 a.m. on Sunday, March 12 and 19. The Sunday School is holding a crokinole party in the Sunday School room on Thursday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. Hullett man marks 90th birthday A life-long Hullett Twp. resident celebrated his 90th birthda3, at an Open House in Londesboro on Sunday afternoon. Edwin Wood was born on March 2, 1905 to Frank and Rebecca (Townsend) Wood. He was educat- ed at SS #8 Hullett. On Aug. 28, 1929 he married his wife Hattie Gray, who passed away April 1994. The couple had two children, Lois and Ken. A retired farmer, Mr. Wood was a Shorthorn cattle breeder. The birthday celebration was at Londesboro United Church. Special guests for the day included Mr. Wood's six grandchildren and six great-grandsons. Crime Stoppers Walkman stolen On Feb. 10 unknown persons entered a locker at the Clinton high school and removed a Sony CD Discman D131 Walkman player. The locker was entered between 9 a.m. and 12. The victim feels that someone knew the combination for the locker.
