Neil McTaggart was charged Dec. 10 after being stopped by offi- cers in Brussels. He was fined $750 or 35 days with nine months to pay. In addi- tion his license was suspended for one year. Another win for Blyth man Joe Chatterton of Blyth recently won $10,000 playing WINTARIO. This is Mr. Chatterton's second major lottery win. On June 29, 1980, he won $50,000 in the PROVINCIAL lottery draw. The 68-year-old retiree is a lather of three and grandfather of two. He and his wife, Lucy, have been playing WINTARIO since it began in 1975. They plan to bank the money for now. WINTARIO is a scratch-off lottery game. Prizes available range from a free ticket to $250,000. More than half the adults in Ontario play OLC games. For every $1 spent on a lottery ticket, about 30 cents is made available for worthy projects across Ontario. Since 1975, lottery players have helped generate $6 billion in profit, which supports the operation of Ontario hospitals, voluntary social service organizations through the Trillium Foundation, and cultural, sport and recreational activities in the province. The Ontario Lottery Corporation is a Crown corporation responsible for operating lottery games in Ontario. Provincial legislation prohibits the sale of lottery tickets to anyone under 18 years of age.
