Ms Beattie said the Ontario Ener-
gy Board will hold a court review
hearing in April or May to make
sure the plan is in the public's best
interest. If there are no problems it
is expected that construction will
begin in June so that by early fall
there will be heat for homes and
businesses.
A franchise agreement is
required with the municipalities to
be served, he said, and once the
work begins there will be a series
of town meetings.
Ms Beattie assured those in atten-
dance that the pipes are walked and
surveyed regularly to check for
problems, and a company employ-
ee would likely be living in the
area. There will also be an office
established.
"We are here for the long haul.
Once we move in we're not leav-
ing," she said.
Ms Beattie said during construc-
tion they will work closely with the
road superintendents to set running
lines in the best locations.

Last year, 100,000 Canadians
took part in the 30 Hour Famine
and raised $2.1 million. The funds
supported development programs
such as an immunization project
that helped lower child mortality in
Bangladesh. The 30 Hour Famine
also funded relief projects in places
like Rwanda, where World Vision
looked after 659 refugee children
whose parents were lost or killed in
the civil war.
The 30 Hour Famine also gives
young people a chance to identify
with millions of people around the
world who face hunger daily. And
participating groups are encouraged
to plan educational activities or
discussion to learn about the root
causes of hunger and poverty.

Union Gas should be up and run-

This was the message brought to
Blyth council at its regular meeting
of Feb. 20.
Diane Beattie, the general man-
ager for the Central Region, which
is this area, and Paul Pastirik
attended the meeting to provide a
brief overview of the progress to
install a gas line. The intent is to
bring gas up from Clinton to

McCaffrey said.
Ms Moffat read a letter from Ms
Grubb which had attempted to
explain the bill, claiming the town
had paid some money for the festi-
val. "But 1 found out it was not a
festival debt," she said.
Councillor Scrimgeour said
council would look into it immedi-
ately. "We don't want this to go on
and on."
Reeve Mason Bailey said," If
there is a motion on the book that
the village is giving the festival a
grant then we are committed to
pay."
Council informed the representa-
tives that the auditors were expect-
ed this week and the issue would be
brought to their attention.
