Mary Gibbings
Program Director and Volunteer
Co-ordinator
Along with the regular programs
on a day to day basis, such as Fun
and Fitness, Happy Wanders,
Caring and Sharing, Adventures in
Friendship, the schedule was very
busy at Huronlea.
Jan. 3 the Grade 4 class from
Brussels School visited the home
for the afternoon. This program is
held every month. We have now
called this program "Buddies 'R'
Us". It starts at 2 p.m.
Bingo is held every Friday at
2 p.m. Bingo seems to be a very
active program for all the residents.
Every Saturday afternoon at
2 p.m. there is piano and organ
music in the sitting room, thanks to
Marion Eddie, Mary Brians and
Alice Brothers who take alternate
weeks in providing the music for
the afternoon.
Rev. Tom Warner led the Church
Service at 2 p.m. in the Chapel on
Jan. 8.
Every Monday afternoon it is

After having enjoyed four very
good one day outings with Cherrey
Bus Lines in late fall last year,
Doreen Dale and Mildred Jacklin
decided to start out with them again
this year by taking in the Feb. 14
three-hour special Valentine's
Dinner Show. There was superb
entertainment put on by Dave Hoy
and his Honky Tonk Piano along
with many other of their regular
group at The Ukranian Holiday

It was a great day.

sing-a-long time at 2:45 p.m. in the
chapel.
Residents' Council was held in
the Fitness Room at 10:30 a.m. In
the afternoon it was our pleasure to
have Mr. Lorne Hunking come to
Huronlea to show a video. It was
about a team of heavy horses
crossing the U.S. It was a very
interesting film to watch.
Jan. 11 the bacon and sausage
was cooking, with all the men
going to the apartment dining room
for their breakfast at 8 a.m. The
men from the apartment were also
invited. Everyone enjoyed the
breakfast. Dave Goodland did a
super job at cooking the eggs.
Every Thursday, Mass is held in
the Chapel at 10 a.m. Father Joe
Nevitt leads the service.
Jan. 15 Rev. Randy Banks United
Church minister from Walton led
the service in the chapel at 2 p.m.

be nice to have one. However, I
think Sandra took them all home
The Brussels Novices were faced
with tough competition in the first
round of playoffs when they battled
Teeswater, on Feb. 14.
The opponents took a two goal
lead into the third and were able to
put another past the goaltender
before the Brussels squad could
notch one.
The lone Brussels goal was
scored by Joel Hemingway. He was
assisted by Tyler Campbell.
The second game of the series
was played out in Brussels on Feb.
17.
Home ice was not an advantage
as the Teeswater team doubled the
hometowners 4-2.
A goal by Hemingway in the first
got the team off to a good start, but
Teeswater replied with one in the
second and another in the third
with her.
Jan. 18 Don Dunbar entertained
the residents by playing the piano.
Jan. 22 the church service was
conducted by the Melville
Presbyterian Church ladies. This
service was held at 2 p.m. in the
chapel.
On Tuesday it was Apple Pan
Dowdy Day. The fitness room was
busy in the morning with the•
residents peeling apples. Some
were peeling, some were cutting
the apples, and some were mixing
the topping for the apple crisp.
Busy - busy they were as two big
pans were made. It was cooked in
the kitchen then in the afternoon
the residents enjoyed the apple
crisp along with ice cream and tea.
It was a treat for everyone.
On Jan. at 2 p.m. The Old Tunes
entertained for the afternoon.
Jan. 25, a Memorial Service was
held in the chapel at 2 p.m. Pastor
Tom Warner led the service. Martin
Baan assisted.
Jan. 29 Capt. R. Scott, Salvation
Army from Wingham led the
service at 2 p.m. Capt. Scott and
before Brussels was able to tie the
score.
The netter by Kyle Stephenson
was the final goal tallied by the
home team as Teeswater popped in
two more before the game ended.
