helping others to tell about Jesus.
Psalm 139, "0 Lord, Thou hast
searched me" was preceded by the
New Testament Lesson 1
Corinthians 15: 1-11 and the
Gospel Lesson Luke 5: 1-11.
Rev. Huntley's sermon was
entitled, "Fish or no Fish". He
explained in his sermon that 'fish or
no fish' is an expression the natives
use in Newfoundland. For example,
'fish or no fish' we're getting
married in the fall.
"Hope" he said, "is different from
wishing. It is faith in the future
despite what happens."
He talked about Helen Rudolph,
born and raised in Nashville,
Tennessee. She was born pre-
maturely, developed scarlet fever,
then polio. She started to try and
walk without her braces, without
telling her family or physician. She
ended up running at age 16 and
won a gold medal in' the olympics,
then later three gold in track and

Blyth village council will ask
area municipalities to reconsider
the size of the Blyth and District
Community Centre Board in order
to save money.
Councillor Gerald Kerr raised the
issue saying he felt there are more
people sitting around the table than
are needed to make the necessary
decisions. He made a motion to
send a letter to other municipalities
who arc members of the Communi-
ty Centre Board to see if they
would be interested in changing the
representation. Currently there arc
12 members on the board with dif-
ferent representation according to
the number of people from the
municipality using the facility.
Councillor Kerr wondered if there
would be fewer representatives
with multiple votes.
"They might be interested in sav-
ing money," he said of the other
municipalities. Meanwhile Blyth
will leave two of its positions on
the board, usually filled by ratepay-
ers, vacant until more feedback is
received from the other municipali-
ties.
Council
considers
change to
recycling
Blyth village councillors are con-
sidering having recycling materials
picked up every other week as a
measure to save money, councillors
told the public at Monday night's
council meeting.
The issue arose during the public
question period when George Ives
asked councillors the reason for the
change to Wednesday pick-up from
Friday. Councillors said Bluewater
Recycling (BRA) had asked for the
change for greater efficiency.
Councillor Doug Scrimgeour then
mentioned the idea for collecting
the material only every two weeks
and asked for the advice of those
present if this would work. It costs
about $4,000 a year for recycling
pick-up, he said.
No one objected to the possibility
but John Elliott suggested that
curb-side pick-up might eventually
prove too expensive. Perhaps, he
said, council could look at drop-off
recycling depots.
In a letter to council, David Wil-
son, manager of marketing and
administration for BRA said the
change of pick-up day helped orga-
nize the routes more efficiently,
minimizes wear and tear on vehi-
cles and cut costs. The result has
been to eliminate the need for one
driver and make capital savings of
over $100.000.
