Meeting of friends
The district of Eastern Canada of Motormaids Inc. met at the Brussels home of Sandra Clark,
(middle row, second from right) this past weekend for the 15th annual winter meeting. The
group of motorcycle enthusiasts used the time to plan their yearly schedule of events which
includes a Mother's Day ride. Front left is Lois Gutzwiller of Hamilton, Ohio, a Harley rider for
56 years. Next to her is Audrey Alexander of Welland, who has been riding motorcycles for 46
years. Seated, front row, right is the district director of Michigan Motormaids, Regina Foster.

The ladies of the club travelled
miles to attend their meeting in
Brussels this past weekend. But
while the trip was made by car,
that's not the normal mode of trans-
portation for this 'vibrant, fun lov-
ing group.
Bill and Sandra Clark of Turn-
berry St. hosted the 15th annual
winter meeting of the Motormaids
Inc., a club for women motorcy-
clists, which has been in existence
for 55 years.

Council
muzzles
pit bulls
Brussels council voted on Mon-
day night to pass a bylaw dealing
with pit bulls and Rottweilers with-
in the village.
Animal Control Officer Bob
Trick had suggested that council
either ban the animals or put a high
license fee on them and order that
they must be muzzled while being
walked.
While there are presently no pit
bulls in Brussels, Clerk-Treasurer
Donna White said that there is at
least one Rottweiler. When ques-
tioned whether the latter is a
vicious breed, Councillor Joe Seili
said that they arc very temperamen-
tal.
Councillor Scili said that he did-
n't feel the village could impose a
ban, but agreed that they should be

The license fee for both breeds of
dogs was set at $100.
400, while there are 36 members in
Canada. The club is divided into
districts with this particular group
belonging to Eastern Canada,
which actually extends as far west
as Manitoba and east to Nova Sco-
tia.
In addition to the district mem-
bers, Lois Gutzwiller of Hamilton,
Ohio and Regina Foster of Monroe,
Mich. were present at the Clarks'.
Ms Gutzwiller, a former national
secretary of Motormaids, has been
riding a Harley for 56 years. Ms
Foster, who has also been riding for
many years is the district director
for Michigan.
Anyone thinking that motorcy-
cling is traditionally a guy's sport
would be greatly surprised to hear
the enthusiasm from this group of
women. Sitting in on a Motomaids
meeting the sense of fun and cama-
raderie is evident as they good-
naturedly rib each other about
which cycles are better. "One
woman told me that's why her hus-
band has a pickup truck, so he can
