Woman opens travel agency office in area
Places to go
For Sofia Rasa-Wallace, an agent for Marlin Travel, it's business at home. Ms Rasa-Wallace
will be offering clients in the Blyth and Brussels area easier accessibility to information
regarding travel and tourism.

Making travel plans will be a lit-
tle more accessible now with the
opening of an agency office for
Marlin Travel in the Blyth/Brussels
area.
Blyth Midgets set for tourney
Sofia Rasa-Wallace, RR2, Blyth
is a recent graduate of the
Travel/Tourism course from the
ICS Learning Centre. A resident of
the area for the past eight years, Ms
Rasa-Wallace said working in this
field was something she had always
thought would be exciting.
"I have done a lot of travelling; I
have visited Yugoslavia, Florida,
and New York as well as having
spent three months in Europe.
While setting up travel plans for
other people I enjoy doing the

earning a solid reputation around
the league as a punishing
bodychecker, his goal was a bonus
for the Midgets. As he explained
later, "I measure my goals by
quality, not quantity!"
Although Wingham closed the
lead to 4-3 by the midway point of
the second period, Blyth responded
with three goals in the final three
minutes of the period to take a
commanding 7-3 lead after two
frames.
Christopher Howson started the
run with assists to Toll and Ryan
Chamney.
Chad Haggitt gave Blyth a 6-3
lead with just under two minutes

A week later, on Jan. 20, Stephen

hometown players a second defeat.
Brussels was kept scoreless until
the 10 minute mark of the third
when Hemingway and Campbell
teamed up for the lone Brussels
added singles to help the cause.
Chris Jutzi played his first ever
game in between the pipes and
stopped plenty to help the squad.
Adam and Chris Corbett showed
some great checking skills always
covering both ends of the rink well.
Tyler Jutzi, Justin Thompson,
Cowan and Benjie Hakkers earning
assists. Haggitt then gave Blyth a
7-3 lead with only 10 seconds left
in the period. He won a faceoff
deep in the Wingham zone, skated
around their centreman and fired
the puck through the puckstoppers
legs.
It was all Wingham in the third
as they scored three goals in a two
minute span midway through the
period to close the Blyth lead to 7-
6. They never let up and completed
their comeback with just under two
minutes showing on the clock.
This 7-7 tie taught the Midgets
that hockey games consist of three
periods and an honest effort is
needed from start to finish.

Stephen f wp. had already bulged
the twine five times, topping off
their winning effort by adding one
more with four minutes left in the
final frame.
Nathan Prior, Scott Phillips,
Andrew McDonald and Tom

checking and mix-ups to help squirt

coming weekend. Due to their solid
showing at the Wingham Regional
Silver Stick Tournament in late
November, the team has accepted
an invitation to participate in the
Forest Silver Stick Finals Tourna-
ment on Jan. 27, 28 and 29. The
competition at this tourney should
do nothing but improve Blyth's
own skills as they make final
preparations for their playoffs.
Blyth's three preliminary round-
robin games will be played in
Thedford. Blyth opens the tourney
on Friday, Jan. 27 at 9 p.m. against
Cheboygan, Mich. Round-robin

A business administration gradu-
ate from Mohawk College, who
also works part-time at a local
bank, the mother of two young girls
says she is grateful to have a career
that allows her to work at her own
pace.
When she approached Marlin
Travel, which is based in Goderich,
about employment the idea of
establishing her as an outside agent
came up. "They had never had an
outside agent before, but because
there is no one in this area it
seemed like a good option."
As an agent, Ms Rasa-Wallace
will be handling all aspects of trav-
el from promotions of various tours
to arrangements for everything
from fun in the sun to a weekend in
Toronto. "Basically it is as if you
are walking into a typical travel
agency," she said.
Ticketing is done in Goderich,
she explained, but will be either
delivered or can be picked up at her
home.
Though her basement office is
'cozy' it is, she says, a small part of
what she does. "The important
thing is reaching out to the client.
How much I want to put into it is
how much I will get out of it."
"I think there's potential here. It's
going to be exciting ar me and I
hope to do some travelling so that I
can make informed suggestions to
clients."
Arrangements can be made with
Ms Rasa-Wallace at 523-4909 or 1-
