THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25, 1995. PAGE 13
Heading into the final weekend
of the Western Junior C League's
regular season the Brussels Bulls
are coming off a very impressive
victory on home ice Sunday. The
Bulls shutout the number one team
in the league, the defending
champion Mt. Forest Patriots 3-0.
Bulls' coach Scott Pettigrew
credited his club's discipline for the
victory, "Normally they find a way
to get under our skin, but players
like Brian Zabel and Brad Gibb
kept their cool and it paid off."
The Bulls opened the scoring in
the first period on the power play.
Josh Alexander rushed the puck
deep into the zone and found Peter
Ryter all alone in front of the net.
He made no mistake tucking the
puck past Patriot's goalie Tom
Clark.
Peter Mulder put the Bulls up 2-0
when he jumped on a giveaway by
former Listowel Cyclone defence
Scan Gawley and slapped it past a
surprised Clark. Bulls' goalie Ryan
Fisk turned in a strong performance
to record the shutout, including a
great stop on a breakaway in the
middle frame.
Bulls' Captain Greg McNevan
put the icing on the cake with a
third period marker on another

Milverton
On Saturday, Jan. 21 the Brussels
Tykes had plenty of offence to
crush Milverton by a score of
12 - 3.
Scoring for Milverton was Cory
Legault, Michael Morrison and
Cory Gaschod. Coach of the
Milverton squad is former Brussels
resident Elizabeth (Excl) Gascho.
For BrusSels Phillip Wedow

four with three coming on one
shift. Cory Chapman scored first
getting an assist from brother
Chase Chapman to start the game
off right.

Patriots turnover. The Bulls penalty
killers had to come up big late in
the third period to preserve the
shutout. •
"It's a big win for us from a
confidence stand point heading into
the playoffs. We have worked hard
to improve our checking and I think
it showed today," said Coach
Pettigrew.
Friday night the Bulls capped
their season series with the
expansion Kincardine Bulldogs
with a perfect 5 - 0 record. Sheldon
Mustard led the way with two
goals, while Peter Mulder, Brian
Zabel, Josh Alexander and Darin
Alviano chipped in with singles.
Four teams, including the Bulls,
do not know yet where they will
finish in the Western Junior C
League standings. Brussels still has
a shot at second but must win both
of its remaining games and hope
Hanover loses at least one.
The Bulls can .finish no lower
than third. Walkerton and
Wingham are also battling for
fourth and it just so happens that is
who the Bulls finish the regular
season with.
Friday night the Bulls travel to
Wingham and then Sunday host
Walkerton at 2. Regardless of
where the Bulls finish, the first
game of the playoffs will be Friday,
Feb. 3 at 9 against either Wiarton
or Kincardine.
