The first 1995 meeting of
Londesboro UCW was held at the
church on Monday, Jan. 16 at
1:30 p.m.
Marsha read "The Gift of
Christmas" 0 God our Help in
Ages Past was sung. Marsha read
the scripture. Brenda read a story,
"The Second Christmas".
Guide me 0 Thou Great Jehovah
was sung, then Marsha led in
prayer.
The minutes of the November
and December meetings were read
and approved. Joan Whyte gave a
report on donations to the
Christmas Bureau she took to
Seaforth. Dorothy Tamblyn gave
the treasurer's report. The balance
as of Jan. 16 is $1,798.62.
The January meeting of the
Cheerio Club was held on
Wednesday, Jan. 18. They had
lunch at Hillcrest Restaurant and
then proceed to the home of Laura
Lyon for the meeting.
Laura welcomed everyone. Roll
call was taken up with the payment
of fees. The minutes of the
Greeters at Londesboro United
Church on Sunday, Jan. 22 were
Roy and Marie Krauter. Guest
speaker was Mr. Sam Young of
Mitchell. The sermon topic was
"The Story of Rizpah."
The worship committee will meet
at the manse on Wednesday, Jan.
Shuffleboard was held on
Wednesday evening, Jan. 18 at
Hullett Public School. The high
man was Milt Dale and high lady
was Helen Dale. There were seven
people present.
The regular WI euchre was held
at the Hall on Friday evening, Jan.
20. There were eight tables of
The Londesboro 4-H club held
their first woodworking club
meeting on Jan. 9.
They talked about the tool box
they were going to make and about
the hand wood tools they would be
using.
Helen Cullen and Brenda Boyer
hosted 11 tables of euchre Monday
evening at the Ethel Hall.
The next euchre will be Jan. 30 at
8:30 p.m.
A good attendance at the buck
and doe for Arnold den Dekker and
Chantelle Stephenson Saturday
evening at the Brussels, Morris and
Grey Community Centre.
The next meeting is on Feb. 20 at
1:30 p.m. Ken and Marilyn Wood
of Wingham will show slides of
China.
World Day of Prayer is March 3.
An invitation will be extended to
Auburn and Burn's UCWs.
There is a meeting in Stratford on
Feb. 13. A donation of $50 per
child for the three teens who
attended Toc Alpha in December
was made.
A letter will be sent to the Lions
Club regarding catering. Thank
your were read from the Murray
Lyon family, the Hunking family,
Bernice Norman, Thelma Ellerby, .
Olwen Wood, Norman Vincent,
Ruth and Paul Ross, Hullett Public
School for the donation, Mary
Gibson and Lois Volk.
November and December meetings
were read. The draw money was
collected. The draw, donated by
Laura, was won by Ora Bruce.
The next meeting is Group II.
Edythe gave the treasurer's
report. There were readings then
members played cards.

Senior Youth Group will meet on
Thursday, Jan. 26.
The annual February weekend is
from Feb. 17 - 19 at Main Street
United Church, Mitchell. Theme
speaker is Mrs. Barb Hicks of
Camp Menesetung. The cost is $35.

Reid; ladies' lone hands, Geraldine
Dale; Ladies' low, Laura Lyon;
men's high, Roy Krauter; men's
lone hands, Ted Fothergill; men's
low, Ted East.
The next euchre will be Friday,
Feb. 3 at 8 p.m.
Thelma and Sam Dougherty, the
leaders, talked about the different
hand tools and their uses.
Sam then took the members out
to the wood shop and showed them
around. The wood was donated by
Hoffmeyers of Seaforth.

lone hands
Seven tables of euchre were in
play on Wednesday evening at the
WI Hall, Belgrave.
Winners were: high lady, Aileen
Leddy; second high, Louise Bos-
man; most lone hands, Doris
Michie; low lady, Kay Rich; high
man, Irene Smyth (playing as a
man); second high, Gordon Bos-
man; most lone hands, Ruth
Johnston (playing as a man); low
man, Gamer Nicholson.
There will be euchre next week
in the WI Hall starting at 8 p.m.

and friends
enjoy dinner
The first Women's Institute pot
luck meal of the year was enjoyed
by almost 70 members and friends
on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
Following the meal, Mrs.
Dorothy Coultes, president,
welcomed everyone and led the
audience in a rousing songtime,
which was accompanied by the Old
Time Band.
Mrs. Mary Hunter, who was in
charge of the program, invited the
band to play some more popular
tunes, which were enjoyed by
everyone present. Young Ben
Procter was the next to delight the
audience with two solos, for which,
his mother Lila provided the
accompaniment on her guitar.
Other soloists included Mrs. Lila
Procter, the Rev. Mary Jane
Hobden and the Rev. John Roberts,
who was accompanied by his wife
Kay. Humorous readings were
interspersed throughout the
program by Mrs. Alice Nicholson
and Mrs. Nancy Jardin. Mr. Harold
Vincent gave an interesting reading
enumerating similarities in the
assassinations of Presidents
Lincoln and Kennedy.
The Old Time Band, which
included Mrs. Mary Coultes, Mr.
Gordon McBurney, Mr. Ron
McBumey and Mr. Arnold Bruce
rounded out the program with some
more toe-tapping favourites.
Mrs. Hunter thanked everyone
who had participated in the
program and also everyone else
who had attended. She also gave a
reminder for the next pot luck
meal, which will be held on Feb. 7
with Mrs. Marie Webster being the
guest speaker.
A short business meeting
followed which was conducted by
Mrs. Coultes and Mrs. Dianna
Robinson, secretary/treasurer.

home from Clinton Public Hospital
where he was a patient last week.
He is extended best wishes for
better health.

and other things. Mabel served
