ones of Mrs. Ruby Hanna who
passed away on Friday, Jan. 13 in
the Wingham and District Hospital.
Mrs. Mabel Wheeler accom-
panied Mr. and Mrs. J. Bishop of
Morriston, to Elliot Lake to visit
Rev. Peter and Nancy Tucker on
the weekend, the occasion of their
40th wedding anniversary.
Mabel's Moms started out the
new year Wednesday, Jan. 11 with
a good turnout. Those present
included Candace Chaffe, Brandon;
Waneta Leishman, Melissa and
Brandon Taylor; Alice Yuill,
Claren; Donna Raynard, Trevor;
Joanne Robinson, Stephanie,
Nicole; Lila Procter, Ben; Andrea
Stevenson, Mathew, Tyler; Julie
Van Camp, Jeanine, Jordan and
Janet Koehler.
The topic discussed was
discipline. Mabel served coffee and
snacks and a good visit was had by
all.
Congratulations to Dave and
Melanie Pletch on the birth of their
new baby boy.

Dense fog
contributes
to accident
Dense fog contributed to an acci-
dent in East Wawanosh Twp. at 5
p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12.
According to Wingham OPP
Claudette Gallant, 37 of Brussels
was westbound on County Road 16
at a stated speed of 90 kilometres
an hour, when she drove through
the stop sign at Hwy 4 and entered
the west ditch.
Ms Gallant was taken to Wing-
ham and District Hospital with
major injuries. A passenger, Mel-
lisa Gallant, 3, received minor
injuries. Both were taken to hospi-
tal by police cruiser.
The 1985 Dodge Caravan sus-
tained moderate-damage.
There were no charges laid.
25 play shoot
Five tables of shoot were in play
at the Community Centre, Belgrave
on Friday afternoon, Jan. 13.
Winners were: high lady, Lois
Chamney; most shoots, Mary
Hunter; lucky draw, Ada Taylor
and Alice Nicholson; high man,
Gordon Rosman; most shoots, Ross
Taylor; lucky draw, Dennis Leddy
and Ruth Johnston (playing as a
man).
There will be shoot again Friday
afternoon, Jan. 20.
Six tables of euchre were in play
at the WI Hall, Belgrave on Jan. 11.
Winners were: high lady, Audrey
Edgar; novelty, Ada Taylor; second
high, Aileen Leddy; low lady,
Edythe Coultes; high man, Mabel
Wheeler (playing as a map); second
high, Stuart Chamney; novelty,
Mel Jacklin; low, Harvey Edgar.
