Front: Candice Bearss, Amanda Cook and Rosalie Hartman. hC a-co discontinues bus service in Blyth For the elderly travelling to visit relatives and youth commuting to employment, the road travelled will be a more difficult one come Jan. 16. The president of Cha-co Trails notified their depots that several routes would be discontinued as of mid-January due to poor ridership and rising costs. "I have heard some concerns from our customers," says Arlene Wood of Blyth Mini-Mart (the local depot). "We have residents who have used the bus to travel to Clinton for jobs, to London to make connections with other routes and theatre employees who use the buses to get to Blyth." "Users are concerned about find- ing another means of transporta- tion," she says. Ms Wood says ridership was very poor some days with only three or four passengers. "It was not economical to continue." The information received from Cha-co Trails indicates that negoti- ations are ongoing with local carri- ers and it is hoped some of the Blyth People The Alvin and Gene Snell family held their Christmas gathering on Boxing Day at the home of Audrey and Jim Timpany of Aylmer. Those present for the occasion were Harvey and Deanna, Shane and Rose-marie, Shannon and Tony; Clifford and Bcv, Kriss and Marla, Nikki and Rob; Herb and Bonnie, Darryl, Cory, Nathan and Devin; Shirley and Jack, Kari and Kurt of London; Deneen and Bob of Aylmer, Dean of Oakville. Craig was unable to attend due to vacationing in the Dominican Republic. Visiting with Alvin and Gene Snell on Monday were Shirley, Kari and Kurt Johnson of London and Sherri Guetter of Dorchester. Eighty-three per cent of dropouts had little or no further education/training while 74 per cent of graduates were enrolled in or had completed advanced education/training.
