Grade 2s make Christmas pinata TREE WINNER By Christine Lapp The tree winner was Ruth Townsend. Thank you Mr. Gibson for the tree donation. CLASS PARTY Mr. Talbot's Grade 7/8s had a class, party Dec. 15. They exchanged gifts and ate lots of goodies. They also had a dance and played games. They had a great time. For the past couple of weeks the 7/8s have been working on Christmas books. Their books Brussels PS news included a series of poems, pictures and stories written in different forms. Each of the students is giving their books to someone special as a Christmas gift. Merry Christmas from Mr. Talbot's 7/8 class. CONCERT On Thursday, Dec. 8 Hullett Central School held a Christmas concert. Thank you to everyone who gave us a generous donation. We had a wonderful turnout. The concert included band, Mrs. Walter's Grade 1 play, cheerleaders put on by the Grade 8 girls, Mrs. Radford's Grade 2 play and the Grade 7/9 production called "I Love Christmas". SCHOOL ACTIVITIES Students watched a movie on Friday, Dec. 16 called Beethoven's 2nd. Then they went to the Seaforth Arena to go skating and conclude a wonderful last day of school. VOLLEYBALL The champions of the girls’ intramural volleyball tournament was the Humiliators. The team players were Carey Elliott (captain). Suzie Salvcrda, Pamela Schneider, Andrea Vandendool, Amy Harkcs, Stephanie Mculcn- thaler, Julie Cowan, Hannah Huizinga and Sandra De Jong. Boys' volleyball will be in the paper in the New Year. PINATAS The Grade 2s have been busy making pinatas from paper mache. Some of them made reindeer, Santas, Koala Bears, etc. They put some tasty treats inside so when they break them during the Christmas Holidays they can enjoy them even more. We have been running around like crazy. Dec. 13, 14, and 15, we had our opening announce­ ments and carol sing in the gym. On Tuesday evening, we had a Christmas concert. The classes that participated were Mrs. Hall's and Mrs. Cousins Grade 1, Ms Anonech's Grade 1/2 and Mrs. dark's Grade 2/3. Their featured soloists were Morgan Bishop, Cory Quesenberry and Catrina Josling. They were HCBE commends staff at area school The Huron County Board of Edu­ cation commended the staff and outside support team for their excellent handling of the sudden passing of a teacher. In newsletter issued by the board on Dec. 15, the board applauded the support given to the children, both emotionally and spiritually. They also passed on the acco­ lades from the community. terrific! On Sunday, our Junior Choir participated in a concert with the Blyth Festival Singers. Mrs. Perrie sang with the adult choir for the combined pieces and then con­ ducted the junior choir for three pieces that they sang by them­ selves. Amber Park sang a solo and she was great! They also sang for Community Dining out for Seniors. When they were there they sang five pieces of music. Again they were spectacular in their efforts! Everyone looked festival wearing red and green. On Wednesday Mr. Wanless's ***** The board has undertaken several construction projects this fall which are in various stages of completion. The Seaforth Public School junior and senior kindergarten ren­ ovations are nearly finished; under construction is the addition to Blyth Public School and the technology wing at F.E. Madill Secondary School; work for JK and SK at class organized a Famine Day. They had 30 people participating. We thank all who participated. Last Thursday Mrs. Uhler's class wore red, white and green. On Friday the whole school wore the Christmas colours also to show Christmas spirit. The winners were Megan Teeft, Vicki Therrian, Amy Douma, Jennifer McDonald, Kyle Stephenson, Sean Hoegy, Lance McLellan and Adam Corbett. Also there was a dance and social organized by Mr. Wanless' class after school until 4:45 p.m. Grades 5-8 were invited. There were board games and card games and also a Hullett Central Public School is out to tender; the preliminaries are in progress for administration space at Blyth PS and East Wawanosh Pub­ lic School and a boys' washroom at Seaforth District High School. Upcoming projects include an administrative area at F.E. Madill SS and JK, SK, library and admin­ istrative facilities at Brussels Public School. competition between Mr. Kemp and students at a game of cribbage. Friday was our last assembly in the gym. The grade 7-8 band played Rock One, Jingle Bells and Up on the Housetop. The junior choir also sang five different pieces. We thank Mrs. King for playing the piano for the carols and junior choir. Last Friday the whole school went skating. We thank the Parents Association who sponsored us. Our Christmas holidays arc from Dec. 15. to Jan. 2.
