The island is just outside of Ft. Myers. This holiday was an early Christmas present from their grandchildren. Marilyn said that the beach is one of the four most famous beaches in the world for collecting sea shells. She said that every morning around 7 a.m. people would be out walking the beaches gathering shells. Welcome home and as Marilyn put it 'back to reality.' I wish you all a Merry Christmas and I leave you with this illustration called, 'Christmas Spirit' by E.C. Baird. While singing Light one Candle, Students entertain seniors This has been a busy week for teachers and students. On Tuesday the Grade 4s and Grade Is went to Huronlea, Brussels to put on a program for the seniors living there. Gloria Wilbee shared her gift of music singing The Wings Beneath My Feet. She dedicated the song to the teachers and in memory of Shirley Lyon. Thursday was the turkey lunch that each classroom helped prepare. Helen Crocker and June Johns cooked a turkey each and made the gravy. The classes made their own desserts and carrot and celery sticks. The Grade 4s peeled potatoes and Grade 1 got the cranberries ready. The kindergarten kids made their own placemats and Christmas crackers. With the help of many volunteer moms the food was all dished out and delivered to each classroom and everyone shared in a Christmas feast. Principal Don Trccmcr was there as well as Gino Giannandrca, superintendent of schools; Gloria and George Love, caretakers of the school, to partake of the meal. Later in the afternoon the Grade 3s made and decorated gingerbread houses. The Grade 2s made reindeer pine-cone Christmas tree decorations and they have been busy all week filling in the mailbox in their room with Christmas cards and letters to each other. I cause the aged to renew their youth and to laugh in the old glad way. I keep romance alive in the heart of childhood, and brighten sleep with dreams woven of magic." "I cause eager feet to climb dark stairways with filled baskets leaving behind hearts amazed at the goodness of the world. I cause the prodigal to pause a moment on his wild, wasteful way and send to anxious love some little token that releases glad tears - tears which wash away the hard lines of sorrow. I enter dark prison cells, reminding scarred manhood of what might have been and pointing forward to good days yet to be. I come softly into the still white home of pain, and lips that are too weak to speak just tremble in silent, eloquent gratitude. In a thousand ways, I cause the weary world to look up into the face of God, and for a little moment forget the things that are small and wretched. I am the Christmas Spirit." 3 wee kings The Walton Public School Grade 3 class presented Three Wee Kings at the annual Christmas concert held at Duff's United Church recently.
