Following the welcome by Barb McMillan and the singing of grace members all sat down to a bountiful pot luck dinner. After the meal Betty Campbell led the group in a sing-song accompanied by Alice Brothers at the piano. Betty Campbell and Joyce Jacklin entertained the group with a duet C is for the Christ M. Hiller leads Sunday, Dec. 18 was a busy day at Brussels Mennonite Fellowship. Mark Hiller was worship leader for the morning service. Denise Hiller was pianist and Lucy Hesse led the singing. Darlene Hemingway ministered through song for the offertory. Pastor Tom Warner preached from Hebrews 1:1-14. The theme of his message was 'Angelic Ministers'. Sunday evening the children, up to Grade 8 put on their Christmas concert. They told the Christmas story through song and dialogue, under the leadership of Urla Koch and Pat Pietrek, as well as several other adult helpers. The Grade 5/6 enjoyed skating, and a Christmas Party, on Saturday, Dec. 17. The youth also held their LYDIA TURNBULL Lydia Turnbull of Brussels passed away at Wingham and Dis­ trict Hospital on Friday, Dec. 16, 1994. She was in her 87th year. Mrs. Turnbull was the beloved wife of the late William James Turnbull (1982), the loving mother of Keith Turnbull of Ethel, Neil and Madeline Turnbull of Calgary, Diane and Barry Engel of Brussels and the late Lydia Ann Turnbull (1941) and loved grandmother of Dawn and Jason Engel. She was predeceased by a sister, Rena Wait, in 1990. Rev. Cam McMillan officiated at the funeral services which were held on Dec. 19 at Betts Funeral Home in Brussels. Interment was at Brussels Ceme­ tery. Memorial donations to the Brus­ sels United Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appre­ ciated by the family. Gertie Kellington told everyone what had been bought with the IGA tapes, also that the stamps went to the Bible Society and the soup labels go to the World Mission for the deaf. The pop can tabs will go towards wheelchairs. The shut-in boxes will be packed on Dec. 14 at Maple Villa. The program committee, Jeanette Boynton and Doris McCall, was in worship service Christmas social, on Saturday evening. There will be Christmas Eve service, Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. and a Christmas morning service, at 10:30 a.m. There will not be Sunday School classes on Christ­ mas Day. Morning Star Lodge drapes charter in member’s memory On Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. the members of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge, Brussels enjoyed a delicious cold turkey dinner. This was the Christmas meeting, which was presided over by Noble Grand Jane Hall. The charter of the Lodge was draped at this meeting in loving memory of Mae Johann who passed away in November. A Rebekah plate was presented to the Lodge from Grace Fuller, a member from Goderich. Barb McMillan, Ruth Sauve, Betty Graber and Dorothy Steffler took part. Jeanette gave an introduction to the skit by asking, "What are you doing about Christmas? How are you getting the Christmas spirit this year?" Dorothy gets the Christmas spirit by writing letters and cards. Doris read the Bible Christmas story. Ruth gets the Christmas spirit by remembering and telling the story of the last Christmas her family had together at their home in the Okanogan Valley. Her family always enjoyed singing the Christmas carols. Barb told how the Christmas spirit came to their home on Christmas Eve the year that Kathy came to their home in the Hoover, due to ill health was unable to attend and Jean Bridge made the presentation on her behalf. D. D. Pres. Jean Hodgert will visit the Lodge on Jan. 10. A Christmas social time was enjoy Lodge. Carols were sung and Mrs. Santa made her timely fun visit. The Christmas draw winners were: first, Dorothy Dennison, Mr. and Mrs. Santa; second, Lois McCitcheon, hamper of groceries; third, Julie McCall, towel rack. afternoon. What a joy Kathy has brought to their family, she said. Dorothy told the group about the year that Anne Smith wanted the group to do the skit entitled "The Shawl." The poor peasant lady wore the shawl to cover a deep scar which disappeared when she gave the shawl to Baby Jesus. Dorothy felt the Christmas spirit came to all the ladies at that meeting. The true meaning of Christmas love and giving was shown in that story. Betty mentioned several things SUPPORTIVE HOUSING FOR PHYSICALLY DISABLED IN HURON COUNTY The Huron County Supportive Housing Task Force is inviting proposals to conduct research to determine the interest in and need for Supportive Housing for physically disabled in Huron County. Supportive Housing may poten­ tially assist, adults with physical disabilities to remain in their normal and familiar environments by providing them with assistance. The Supportive Housing Task Force, on behalf of the Long-Term Care Planning Committee, is requesting research proposals that would outline research objectives, methods, scheduling, and costs of the proposed research, as well as the background of those proposing to conduct the research. Research proposals are requested no later than January 5, 1995.
