Huron MPP Paul Klopp
announced Dec. 12 the completion
of a $2.3 million jobsOntario
project that reconstructed Hwy. 4
through the village of Blyth and
created 39 full-year jobs.
"This project is an investment in
our infrastructure and our
economy," Mr. Klopp said on
behalf of Transportation Minister
Mike Farnan. "Safety of the
highway has been improved and
that's an investment we can all be
happy about."
The construction work included
replacement of the Blyth Brook
Bridge, improvements to curbs,
gutters and entrances, paving the
shoulders and adding a right turn
lane at County Road 25. It also
involved widening the two-lane
highway.
"The whole community, includ
ing those who come here to Blyth
every year to enjoy the theatre
offered by the Blyth Festival, will
reap the benefits of this construc
tion for years to come," said Mr.
Klopp. "This work is an example of
our government's efforts to make
our roads the safest in North
America."

After considerable discussion and
obtaining a letter from the board
solicitor, the Clinton Pubic Hospi
tal Board approved a policy for
notifying former patients with
regards to the risks of an HIV con
taminated blood supply, from 1978
to 1985.
The hospital will undertake a
general look-back program which
will involve corresponding directly
to patients who received blood or
blood products during those years.
Included in the letter will be
information concerning HIV as
well as a suggestion that the
patients should contact their family
physician to be tested for possible
exposure to Hepatitis C.
The board approved renovations
to the admitting area, at a cost of
$2,550. The changes are aimed at
improving patient confidentiality.
Other purchases approved by the
board include a new telephone sys
tem through Bell Canada, a flexible
cystoscope at a cost of $11,545 and
a warming cupboard in the amount
of $3,236.75.
The financial statements show
the hospital has accumulated a
year-to-date surplus of $75,046.78,
$27,581.05 occurring in October.
