NV I hosts 8 tables of euchre Eight tables of euchre were played at the Majestic Women's Institute card party on Dec. 6. Prizes went to: high lady, Sarah Stephenson; high man, Rick Elliott; low lady, Ruth Bauer; low man, Allan Edgar; lone hands, lady, Mary Lowe; man, Adah Smith. Lucky door number prizes were received by: Kate Wilson, June Jacklin, Reinhardt Bauer, Mabel Bauer, Jane DeVries, Helen Gallop, Ruth Johnston, Doug Hemingway, George Laverty, Yvonne Knight, and Jim Smith. A poinsettia plant was won by Ross Cunningham. The next card party will be held on Jan. 3. The Majestic Women's Institute started its meeting with a pot luck lunch on Dec. 14. Business arising from the meeting included giving a donation to the Children's Aid Society, FWIO news and a donation o a friend of 4-H. Shut-in boxes are to be packed at Maple Villa on Dec. 19, at 1 p.m. The committee for the January card party are: Leona Armstrong, Kathy Bridge, Kathy Hallman and Kathleen Semple. Leona Armstrong led a musical with members playing instruments. Edna McLellan read, "A Star to Wish On", and "What if God Went on Strike". Marie McCutcheon introduced the special guest, Sandra Clark. Sandra Clark is well-known in the community for her specialty bears and weaving projects. She explained how she made the bears, the different fabrics they are made of and how each bear has its own features. The second part of her talent included weaving. She showed a small weaving loom that can produce a delicate design. This was just one of her looms. As a result there will be no issue of The Citizen on Dec. 28. The Blyth office will be closed from 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 until Monday, Jan. 2. The Brussels office will be closed at 2 p.m. Dec. 19 and will re-open 10 a.m. Jan. 2.
