John G. and Mrs. Roberts of Belgrave. Mabel's Moms gathered at the home of Mabel Wheeler on Wed­ nesday, Nov. 30. Those present included Sherry Taylor and Procters earn awards Douglas Bieman of Kincardine visited on Saturday with his mother Mrs. Agnes Bieman. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Procter and family attended the 90th birthday party for his sister Mrs. Addie Howson who lives at the Goderich Place Retirement Home. Her sisters Mrs. Margaret Grain and family, Mrs. Edna Stephens and family were also present. They all met at the JJ Restaurant, Goderich. Twenty-two relatives attended from Toronto, Cambridge, Listowel, Egmondville, Islington, Belgrave and Goderich. J. Grasby wins in euchre Thirteen tables of euchre were in play at the WI Hall, Belgrave. Winners were: high lady, Jane Grasby; second high, Irlma Edgar; lone hands, Doris Michie; low lady, Norma Moore; high man, Ross Brandon, Joanne Robinson, Nicole and Stephanie, Andrea Stevenson, Mathew and Tyler, Linda Hess and Andrew, Lila Procter and Ben, Janet Koehler and Trevor Raynard. The subject discussed was parental disagreements and how to have harmony in the home. Mabel served refreshments and * everyone had a nice visit. Congratulations to Mrs. Elizabeth Procter and her daughter Kate in winning several awards in the hog division at the Royal Canadian Winter Fair, Toronto. Congratulations to Eldon and Lorraine Cook on winning prizes for the Brown Swiss Herd at the Royal Winter Fair. This community extends sincere sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Allan McBurney and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Yuill in the passing of a dear father and brother, Mr. Thomas Stokes of Wingham, formerly of Belmore. Turvey; second high, Oscar Schefter; lone hands, Mabel Wheeler (playing as a man); low man, Stewart Musgrove. WMS enjoys Christmas poems The Christmas meeting of the Women’s Missionary Society was held at the home of Mrs. Freda Scott on Monday. The service from the Glad Tidings was used with Mrs. Alice Nicholson presiding. The hymn Once in Royal David's City was sung. Mrs. Ivy Cloakey, Mrs. Freda Scott and Mrs. Lottie Scott read scriptures on the birth of Jesus. Mrs. Ora Bruce and Mrs. Margaret Siertsema had readings on reflection. TOBACCO CONTROL ACT Mrs. Nicholson led in prayer. Hark the Herald Angels Sing was read. Each person read a Christmas story or poem. Twelve visits to sick and shut-ins were recorded. Mrs. Nicholson closed with words on departing. Area teen receives fine An impaired driving charge has netted a $1,000 fine for a 19-year- old West Wawanosh woman. Christina Kerr was charged Aug. 21 in Goderich after police spotted a vehicle being pushed down the road by two men. Ms Kerr was at the wheel.
