Presenting the trophy is Len Gamble, owner of the Brussels Livestock, where the sale took place. The animal then went on sale for $2/lb ($2,400 total) to Jim Wydeman of the Kitchener Waterloo Stockyards, who then donated the steer back for resale at $1.50/lb. Len Gamble bought the steer and the $1,800 from the sale was donated to the Mothers Against Drunk Driving organization. Corey lost her brother in a tragic car accident this summer. B. UCW elects new executive Juanita Chacon-Snow and her 3 1/2 year old daughter Camila of Chile, South America, visited last week with Muriel and Bill Coultes. They also visited with Joanne and Steve Robinson and family, Andrea and Scott Stevenson and family, Karen and Paul Cook and family, and Janice and Mark Matheson and family of Molesworth. Camila played with the Robinson and Stevenson children in her first experience with snow on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Tibor Oravac and Kristen of Akron, Ohio motored to visit with Mrs. Mabel Wheeler and other friends for a few days includ­ ing the American Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Leitch of London spent last weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby. Blair Bieman of RR 2, Lucknow attended Knob Hill Farms National Junior Beef Heifer Show at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, Nov. 13. He won first in his class, Championship heifer Brittany of the Commercial Heifer Class. He received a trophy by Knob Hill Farms, National Junior Beef Heifer Show. Congratulations Blair. On Nov. 23 Mabel's Moms gathered at the home of Mabel Wheeler. Those present included Andrea Stevenson, Mathew and Tyler, Joanne Robinson, Nicole and Stephanie, Linda Hess and Andrew, Waneta Leishman, Melissa, Brandon Taylor, Trevor Raynard, Lila Procter and Ben, Annette Te Raa, Mitchell and Janelle, Alice Yuill and Claren, Janet Koehler and Derek. We all wish Annette and her family well in their new home in Goderich and hope she will get back to visit us at Mabels. This week we discussed death in the family. Linda Hess brought some very helpful information on the five steps of grieving and how we as friends can say and do the right things to help the family. Mabel encouraged us to do a skit for the United Church Christmas concert on Dec. 11. We decided to have the children draw names for Christmas this year and are talking of a possible potluck Christmas party. The names will be drawn on Nov. 30. On Saturday, Nov. 26 Cam and Alice Yuill and Travis and Janet Koehler went to Blyth Theatre to see Yuk Yuk's. The UCW of Knox United Belgrave met on Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. in the schoolroom of the church. The president, Mary Hunter opened the meeting with a poem and wel­ comed everyone. Joyce Vincent and Nancy Folk- ard were in charge of the worship service and began with the singing of the hymn As with Gladness Men of Old and the scripture readings from Isaiah 9: 2, 6, 7 and Matthew 1: 18-25. The meditation was based on the question "What is Christmas? and answered by citing examples of unselfishness and love. The offering was received by Doreen Marks and Sheila Nixon and the hymn Angels from the Realms of Glory was sung. Special music was provided by Karrin Marks at the piano. The guest speaker, Juanita Chacon-Snow and her little daughter Camila of Chile were introduced by Muriel Coultes. Juanita works at listing the names and gathering the information on the people who were shot or went missing during the military regime of the Chilean dictator, Pinochet. Her organization puts this information on computer to make L. The people of Chile, historically celebrate Christmas by going to church on Dec. 24 and gift giving on Epiphany (Jan. 6) but over the past 25 years North American customs and commercialism have taken over. Juanita's parents Florrie Snow and Arturo Chacon are currently in Toronto Conference doing mission interpretation (their story is in the November Mandate Mission Magazine). Juanita's husband, a high school principal, and their young son from Chile are going to join Juanita and Camila and Juanita's parents in Newfoundland for Christmas. Juanita's mother is originally from Newfoundland. Juanita was thanked by Barbara Anderson. Lunch was served by Doris Michie, Donna Shaw and Mary Hunter.
