LondesboroThe news from Compiled by June Fothergill Phone 523-4360 Lions’ party a success The efforts of the Lions Club and many volunteers helped to make the Londesboro Business Associa­ tion's Halloween party on Oct. 31 a great success. Several judges performed the dif­ ficult task of picking winners from the poster and costume contest. The posters, made by kindergarten to Grade 8 students filled the hall with colour and imagination. The efforts of both students and teachers was greatly appreciated. The Lions, parents aryl children helped to make the occasion a night to remember. ACT SOON AND SAVE Sunny skies and mild temperatures made for an enjoyable morning of cooking for Londesboro Lions Sam Dougherty, left and Allan Bosman. The pair were part of the crew serving up the Lions Old Tyme Country Breakfast for the hungry crowd who turned out Sunday morning at the Londesboro Hall. G. Dale hosts Cheerio Club The November meeting of the Cheerio Club was held on Wednesday, Nov. 16. They had lunch at the Hillcrest Restaurant and then proceeded to the home of Geraldine Dale. Geraldine welcomed everyone. The minutes of the October meeting were read. Vietta Hoggart gave a reading, "Fresh From the Pastor discusses truth Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, Nov. 20 were Jim and Ramona Jamieson. Ushers were Bert Lyon and Garnet Wright. Flowers were in memory of Paul Buchanan and Kittie MacGregor's mother. The sermon topic was "Tell me the Truth". The Senior Youth Group will meet at the manse on Thursday, Nov. 24. Part will be taking the National Driving Test. The Board of Stewards will meet Nov. 23 in the Sunday School rooms at 8 p.m. Huron Perth Foodgrains Commit­ tee will meet on Monday, Nov. 28 at 9:30 a.m. in Northside United Church, Seaforth. Farm". Edythe Beacom gave the treasurer's report. The draw, donated by Clara Riley, was won by Laura Lyon. A thank you card was read from Clara Riley. The Christmas meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Members will meet at Beth's place at 1:30 p.m. then proceed to the Hillcrest Restaurant for the Christmas dinner at 4 p.m. Bring a gift for $5 for the gift exchange. The WI euchre was held at the Hall on Friday, Nov. 18. There were eight tables of euchre. Winners were: high lady, Geraldine Dale; ladies' lone hands, Evelyn Christianson; ladies’ low, Elva Cox; men's high, John Hesselwood; men's lone hands, Elizabeth Medd; men's low, Ted Fothergill. The next euchre is Friday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. Shuffleboard was held at Hullett school on Wednesday evening, Nov. 16. Winners were: ladies' high, Geraldine Dale; men's high, Lome Dale. There were seven present. UCW plans for Christmas The Londesboro UCW Unit will hold its Christmas pot luck meeting on Monday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. Rev. Cheryl Anne Stadelbaur - Sampa will be the guest speaker. Items of non-perishable foods will be collected for the food bank al Clinton's Salvation Army. All ladies of the congregation are invited to attend. Fothergills visits sisters The sympathy of the community is extended to Don and Alice Buchanan on the sudden passing of their son Paul. Ted and June Fothergill attended a birthday party for June's sister, Helen, at Royal Terrace Estates, Palmerston and also visited with another sister, Mrs. Carol Gilmore of Gowanstown. Single vehicle accident severely damages car A Clinton area youth was involved in a single vehicle acci­ dent on Nov. 16, which caused severe damage to the 1986 Pontiac he was driving. David Bylsma, 19, of RR3 Clin­ ton, was castbound on County Road 13 at Cone. 14 of Goderich Twp. at 7 a.m. when he lost control of the car. The vehicle entered the north ditch, rolling onto its roof, says Goderich OPP Constable John Marshall. Mr. Bylsma was taken to Ciinlon Public Hospital by ambulance.
