The winners with 77 points were Charlie Johnston and Ila Pollock. Second prize went to Loma Gills and Clayton Gills with 76 points and third prize to Bert Sanders and Keith Galbraith with 73 points. Winner of the 50/50 draw was Maureen Hopf. Fourteen tables of euchre were in A. Nicholson hosts WMS The Women's Missionary Society held its November meeting at the home of Mrs. Alice Nicholson with six members and one guest present. Come Ye Thankful People Come was sung. Mrs. Nicholson opened with a roll call to worship and the service in the 'Glad Tidings' was used. Mrs. Freda Scott read the scripture from Psalm 68 and Mrs. Ivy Cloakey read the meditation. Mrs. Margaret Siertsema led in Motocross fight continues play at the WI Hall, Belgrave, Wednesday evening. Winners were: high lady, Alice Nicholson; second high, Aileen Leddy; lone hands, Isabel Montgomery; low lady, Norma Strong; high man’ Jim Coultes; second high, Jim Smith; lone hands, Jack Taylor; low man, George Inglis. There will be euchre again, Wednesday evening, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. prayer. The secretary's report was read and the treasurer's report was given. The roll call was answered with something to be thankful for. Forty-two sick and shut-in visits were recorded. Mrs. Nicholson read a hymn For the Fruits of His Creation. Mrs. Siertsema read "Living Between Breaths". Mrs. Nicholson closed with prayer and served a lovely lunch and a social time was enjoyed. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 23,1994. PAGE 7. UCW to host Chilean guest An interesting guest will be speaking at the Belgrave United Church Women's meeting, Thursday, Nov. 24 in the church school room at 8 p.m. She is Juanita Chacon-Snow from Chile, South America, whom ,with her small daughter, is visiting Bill and Muriel Coultes. Juanita is in Canada doing Mission Education and will speak about reconciliation and her work Resident has early Christmas Mr. and Mrs. Ross Anderson spent last weekend at Peterborough visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Rob Roy, Christina and Emily. Mrs. Rosella Rooney of Blyth held Christmas for 55 of her relatives on Sunday, Nov. 13 at the Bake sale a hit Home Sweet Home, Craft and Bake Sale sponsored by Belgrave Guides, Brownies and Sparks was a great success! Everyone was very appreciative of the community support and donations. The Guide raffle winners were Jean McNeil of Brussels, Wilma Blake of Lucknow and Wendy Marshen of Samia. Lois Chamney donated the baby quilt for raffle. Proceeds will be used for craft supplies, camping equipment and outings. with lawyers in Chile. Everyone is welcome to come and hear her story. The Afternoon Unit of the UCW met in the Sunday School room on Nov. 14 with 10 ladies present. Mrs. Audrey Fenton opened the meeting with a "Remembrance Day" theme followed by the business portion of the meeting. It was decided for the December meeting to go to Pinecrest Nursing WI Hall, Belgrave. Those attending came from Kitchener, Kincardine, Brantford, London, Granton, Elliott Lake, Salford, Toronto, Strathroy, Blyth. Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston and Erin of Ilderton spent the weekend with their parents Mrs. Laura Johnston and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby. Mrs. Mary Hunter was in charge of Mission Study and chose as her subject, "How to Witness". The meeting closed with the Mizpah benediction in unison. and their little daughter Emma of Hamilton spent the weekend with his parents Rev. and Mrs. John Roberts. Mrs. Mary Procter and Mrs. Lorna Cook have just returned home from a two-week lour of War Memorials Cemeteries and Battlefields in Europe. They toured France, Belgium, Holland and Southern England. The land use dispute in East Wawanosh Twp. continues as neighbours battle over the appropri­ ateness of motocross. The disagreement began when Tim Bitz, hosted a motocross event on his father's property on Labour Day weekend. A complaint was filed with council, by Paul Cham- ney, regarding the noise. Council had encouraged the neighbours to come to an agree­ ment, but when a solution was not found, a meeting was called for Man charged in accident A double vehicle fender bender occurred in Brussels on Sunday afternoon. A Wingham OPP spokesperson said that Eric Ross, 36 of Tumberry St., Brussels, was turning into his driveway when his 1986 Mercury was struck from behind by a vehi­ cle driven by Glen Johnston, 56 of Nov. 10. Consequences of rezoning the Bitz property to allow motocross, were discussed at the meeting. If council decided to rezone the land, all residents within 400 feet of the Bitz property would have to be contacted, along with anyone who had filed a complaint. Councillors Dianna Robinson and Fred Meier agreed that no mat­ ter what the decision by council, everyone would not be satisfied. Another meeting was suggested to try and rectify the situation. RR2 Bluevale. Neither man was injured. There was light damage to Mr. Johnston's 1992 Ford and moderate damage to Mr. Ross's car. Mr. Johnston has been charged with following too close, the spokesperson said.
