General Manager Susan Moffatt E ntertainment Feminists take over theatre Those "comedic feminist terrorists" known as Sensible Footgear take over the McManus, downstairs at The Grand Theatre, to perform their show Close to the Bone from Nov. 7 through Nov. 26. Sensible Footwear is Alex Dallas, Alison Field and Wendy Vousden, three fiercely funny English women who came together 10 years ago and have been touring their own unique brand of female humour to a wide range of audiences ever since. Their wickedly funny cabaret shows observe male and female behaviour with a pertinent and provocative eye, daring both to challenge and to entertain. Using sharp a cappella songs and hilarious sketches, these witty women have created shows that are not only wildly irreverent but are also intelligent. They were the hit of the People's Comedy Festival in Toronto and have appeared in Calgary for Alberta Theatre Projects, at The Gas Station Theatre in Winnipeg, and at Saskatoon's Broadway Theatre. They have appeared on television and radio in England and in Canada. They are frequent guests on the CBC appearing on such programs ad Radio Noon, Brave New Waves and Later the Same Day. Close to the Bone is a show which explores exactly what nice girls are up to in the privacy of their bedrooms. We can revel in their revelations as they lift the veil on all things taboo for an evening of wicked wit and razor-sharp sketches interspersed with naughty said the two positions will allow for enhanced relations with the community.
