Smith SMITH-O'BRIEN Pumpkins, gourds, and fall flowers adorned the altar of St. Ambrose Church, Brussels on Oct. 1 to provide a lovely harvest setting for the wedding of Shelly Marie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert O'Brien, Seaforth and Christopher Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith, Brussels. Fr. Joe Nevitt officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony. Music was provided by Aaron and Tamara Van Loo, Ingleside, cousins of the groom. Vocalists were Sue Sawyer, Cambridge, cousin of the bride, and Cheryl Ann (Storey) St. Onge, Seaforth, bridesmaid and friend of the bride. Entering the church on the arm of her father, the bride looked radiant in a satin, pearled and sequined gown, designed and made with love, by her mother - her maid of honour was a very close friend, Shelly Nigh, Seaforth. Brides maids, also friends were Cheryl Ann St. Onge, Seaforth, Heather McMillan, Seaforth and Samantha Terpstra, Brussels. They were attired in floor length, plum suits. They all carried grapevine wreaths with fall flowers intertwined. Rebecca, Samantha and Rachel Robinet, Seaforth, friends of the bridal couple, were flower girls. Rebecca was in white satin, and chiffon southern belle dress, the twins were in plum print and white eyelet, southern belle, with match ing blossom hats. The groom and his attendants wore black tuxedos, with plum multi coloured vests. Best man was brother of the groom Steve Smith, Brussels. Guests were greeted and ushered by Steve Blake, Hamilton, Joe Terpstra, Brussels and Jeff Alcock, Kitchener, all friends of the bridal couple. The ring bearer, Andrew Van Loo, cousin of the groom, was a little gentleman in his black tuxedo. Concluding the ceremony, the bride was surprised to be presented with a lucky bride's horseshoe, by her nephew Quinn O'Brien. It was brought from Scotland, by the maid of honour's granny, Nan Young. The dinner and reception was held at the B. M. & G. Community Centre, Brussels. Master of Ceremonies was the bride's uncle, Bill Nesbitt of Springfield. After a very memorable day, the wedded couple exchanged a week in the bean fields, for the sunny beaches of Aruba. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith catered to a lovely rehearsal party at then- farm, prior to the wedding. The bride was feted at a number of miscellaneous showers. Shelly and Chris express appreciation to all who shared in their special day. They now reside at RR 3, Brussels.
