Not as they appear
Though it looks like this Elora Rocks player might have been lending a hand to help the
Brussels Crusader stay on his feet, any hockey fan knows it was quite the opposite as the
pair jockey for position around the visitor's net during Sunday night's game action in Brussels.
The home team skated away with a close 5-4 victory.

The Brussels Crusaders improved

Brussels blasts Goderich 12-0
The Brussels PeeWees enjoyed a
12-0 romp over a visiting Goderich
I team on Nov. 4.
The onslaught began at the 13
minute mark, when Trevor Wilson
scored his first of three after a set
up from Kevin Mutter and Jason
Armstrong. The second goal came
eight minutes later off the stick of
Matthew Cameron, with assists
going to Jason Boivin and Joel
Kellington.
Kellington opened the scoring in
the second, assisted by Chad Fisch
er and Ryan Smith, then Boivin
tagged on another less than two
minutes later. Assists on this one
went to Matthew McLellan and
Carla Hunt.
The third period was the undoing
of the visiting team with the Brus
sels barrage relentlessly notching
eight more before the final buzzer.
Boivin got his second of the game,
off the sticks of Cameron and Hunt,
then Trevor Wilson lit the light 30
seconds later. Assists went to Sam
Zahnd and Tyler Bragg. Al 4:09

solid goaltending by Trevor

the last three minutes of play. The
fun began with just 2:38 on the

Two wins on the weekend has
extended the Junior C Bulls
unbeaten streak to five games. The
Bulls knocked off Wiarton 5-4
and Kincardine 9-3.
The Bulls now have a record of
6-3-1 and are tied with Wingham
for second in the Western Junior C
standings. The Mt. Forest Patriots
remain in first despite losing to
Hanover Sunday. The Pats are four
points ahead of the Bulls.
Saturday night the Bulls made
the long trip to Wiarton and thanks
to a late goal by Ryan Wright had a
happy bus ride home. The Bulls
opened the scoring less than two
minutes into the game when Ryan
Kipfer blasted a point shot home
for his first goal of the season. But
Kipfer's joy was shortlived as he
would be tossed out for hitting
from behind in the second period
and will serve a four game
suspension.
Nate Bender went high to the
blocker side for the Bulls' second
goal and then Greg McNevan fired
his eighth and ninth goals of the
season to even the score at 4 - 4
after the second period. The winner
came on a strong second effort by
winger Jason Brooks, who made a
pass to Wright, who redirected it
into the net.
Coach Scott Pettigrew said it was
a tough win. "Wiarton's rink has
very square corners and it is a
tough place to play- I thought
veterans Nate Bender and Greg
McNevan were very dominant."
After a short sleep, the Bulls

paced the scoring attack with two
goals each, while Tim Beyer played
a strong game scoring once and
setting up three others. Josh
Alexander, Greg Brown, Pete

found the net. Brown's goal came
on a slick shorthanded effort.
Chad Pettigrew was pleased with
the outcome. "You have to be
happy when you score nine goals
and your top scorer (McNevan)
only picked up one assist. It really
showed our depth because they
shadowed Greg and that just
opened up more ice for other
players."
The Bulls now take on the
Walkerton Blackhawks Sunday
afternoon at 2 p.m. in Brussels. It's
the two teams' first meeting of the
season and a rematch from last
year's quarterfinal playoff matchup
that went the distance before the
Bulls prevailed.
