The Brussels Crusaders scored
three unanswered third period goals
for a 6-5 win over Drayton

arena.

the score before Brian Campbell
scored the winner on the powerplay
with six minutes remaining.
Dave Murray with two, Corey
McKee, Darren Johnston, and Ron
Strome also scored for Brussels
while Trevor Fortune took the win
in his first start of the season.
The Crusaders' next game is at
home Sunday night at 7:30 against
the Elora Rocks. The sponsor is
Neil Beuermann Construction.

Carroll, Cooper, Carter and Steve
Fritz all missed Saturday's contest.

Wilson.
The Lions Head North Stars have
folded for the 1994-95 season after
19 years of operation.
In case of a tie the league has
adopted a five minute sudden death
overtime period.
PeeWees blast Zurich Out of here
Jason Boivin led the Brussels
PeeWees to resounding victory
over Zurich on Oct. 24, by earning
a hat trick.
The scoring did not get underway
until more than half way through
the game, but once started the Pee
Wees appeared unstoppable.
Mike Cooper put the first notch
on the board with 8:16 left in the
second period. He was assisted by
Sam Zahnd and Trevor Wilson.
As the clock wound down,
Boivin earned his first netter which
was quickly followed by a Zahnd
goal. Assists were earned by Kevin
Mutter, Chad Fischer, Jason Arm-
strong and Wilson, respectively.
The third period marked the addi
tion of four more goals by the
home team.
Wilson netted the puck early in
the frame, assisted by Zahnd and
Ryan Smith and Joel Kellington
racked up a point with the help of
linemates Zahnd and Tyler Bragg.
Boivin rounded out the scoring
with less than five minutes to play
by adding two to the record. Assists
went to Kellington, Matthew
McLellan and Darrell Dalton.
Stephen Oldfield minded the net
and earned a shutout, bringing the
final tally to 7-0 for the home team.
Bulls' goalie Ryan Fisk gets a little help from a teammate, who blocks the net during
Sunday's game against the Wingham Ironmen. The Bulls pulled away from an early six point
deficit to finish the game in a tie.
3rd place standing
Brussels Atom Reps
lose to Stephen, 8-4
Friday night the Brussels Atom
Reps travelled to Zurich.
Both teams came out slow with
Brussels finally scoring at the 56
second mark in the first as Stephen
Todd scored on a pass from Chris
Coulter.
The home town evened the score
with just 33 seconds left.
The visiting team came out flying
in the second as they scored four
unanswered goals. Coulter scored
at 4:29 on a pass from Todd and
Blake. Brian Oldfield scored the
next three goals at 4:18 and 1:21,
then completed his hat trick with
just six seconds remaining, on a
pass from goalie Matt McCall.
Brussels continued to press into
the third period as Oldfield scored
his fourth goal of the game at
10:43. Robert Kerr received a nice
pass from Phillip Affolter. At the
6:43 mark of the third period Nolan
Krotz scored on a pass from
Affolter. Oldfield scored his fifth
goal of the game at 2:46.
Zurich scored their second goal
with just 2:12 left in the game with
45 seconds left. Coulter ripped a
shot in the top corner on a pass
from Blake and Darryl Houston.
Brussels skated home with a 10-2
victory.
Saturday the boys travelled to
Stephen Twp. Both teams came out
flying and the end-to-end action
kept everyone in the game.
Brussels scored first as Krotz
lipped one in on a pass from
Oldfield at 9:05. Stephen got that
goal back however seven seconds
later.
The second period was just as
fast as the first, but Stephen look
the lead at 6:11. Brussels fought
back to tie the score two minutes
later as Krotz scored unassisted.
The visiting team legs started to
fade in the third as Stephen scored
the first two goals of the third, but
Krotz completed the hat trick at
11:53.
That would however be as close
as the visitors came on this date, as
Stephen then scored four
unanswered goals.
Kerr completed the scoring for
Brussels on a pass from Oldfield
and Andy Van Beek.
The final score was Stephen 8,
Brussels 4.
Bulls earn
A win and a tie has lifted the
Brussels Bulls into third place in
the Western Junior 'C' Standings.
Friday night the Bulls knocked off
arch rival Hanover 5-2, then
Sunday staged a dramatic
comeback to tie Wingham 7-7.
That gives the Bulls a record of 4 -
3-1, one point ahead of the Barons
who have a game in hand.
The Bulls big line of Nate
Bender, Brian Zabel and Greg
McNevan was the difference
against the Barons. Each scored
once and set up two others while
Jim Beyer scored a key powerplay
goal in the second period. Murray
Key rounded out the scoring with
an empty netter with 14 seconds
left to play. It was the Bulls' second
straight win against Hanover as the
two clubs battle for third.
Sunday afternoon the Bulls got
off to another terrible start giving
up six goals in the first period
including three while short handed.
Darin Alviano got his first of the
season and Gr'g McNevan
handcuffed Ironmen goalie Jason
Reid with a long shot with one
second left in the first to make it 6-
2.
The Bulls' Nate Bender managed
the only goal of the second period,
but it was a double minor penalty
to the Ironmen's Ryan Gallaher late
in the middle frame that turned the
tide.
Brussels started the third with the
man advantage and went to work
quickly with Bender notching his
second of the game only 16
seconds after the puck was
dropped. Then a few seconds later
McNevan slapped one home to
make it 6-5. With the momentum
now with Brussels, the Bulls' Ryan
Wright tucked one home a minute
later and then 30 seconds after that
Murray Kaye got the go ahead
goal.
However, Brussels could not
hold off the powerful Ironmen the
rest of the way as Justin Murray
picked up his third goal of the
Brussels Novices settle for tie
game after being left alone in front
of the Bulls' netminder Ryan Fisk.
The Brussels bench erupted in
the dying seconds of the game
when it looked like Wright had
scored the winner but referee Dave
Marsh ruled the puck did not cross
the goal line. Coach Scott Pettigrew
said overall it was a good weekend.
"I wish we would have come out of
the gate better Sunday but to come
back and get a point was positive.
Our powerplay is tops in the league
right now and that is keeping us in
games, however I would like to see
us play better defensively. We have
been too lazy as far as checking is
concerned."
The Bulls now travel to Wiarton
Saturday night and return home
Sunday afternoon to play the
Kincardine Bulldogs at 2 p.m.
