2 challenge incumbent Hullett reeve for post
Thomas J. Cunningham
Thomas Cunningham is seeking
re-election as reeve of Hullett. He
has served as reeve since 1981.
Other political experience includes
the Hullett Township School Board
in 1967-68, councillor 1977-78,
and deputy reeve 1979-80.
He says, "I am seeking this posi
tion because I feel I can contribute
something to the well-being of the
residents of Hullett, as well as feel
ing that I am fortunate to live in
this country and township."
The most important issue to him
is responsible government.
He adds that his personal goal is
for the residents of Hullett to be
satisfied. "I have been fortunate to
have been able to attain most of my
goals, such as reeve and warden of
Huron County, so I feel I do not
have much more I can accomplish.
I am just pleased to serve the resi
dents of Hullett."
Frank Szusz is a candidate for
Hullett reeve.
His reason for seeking council is
that he doesn't like acclamations,
he said.
He feels that the most important
issue is the new municipal build
ing, which he thinks is not neces
sary.
"I hope to serve the people and
community the best way I can."
David Armstrong
Robert Szusz
Robert Szusz is seeking a posi
tion as Hullett Twp. councillor. He
has five years previous experience
in council, ending in 1991.
His reason for running is his
interest in the affairs of the town
ship.
Hugh F. Flynn
Hugh Flynn is running for the
reeve's position in Hullett. He has
served in the past as a councillor
and reeve.
He is a lifetime farmer. His dedi
cation led him to make a motion to
stop the closure of the Clinton Pub
lic Hospital.
As reeve he would hope to be fair
to all comers of the township. "My
personal goal is to give ratepayers
fairness and equality," he says. The
most important issues to him are
controlling taxes and spending.
Bruce Bergsma
Bruce Bergsma is running for
councillor in Hullett Twp. for the
first time and says he decided to do
so to serve the people of his town
ship.
Mr. Bergsma has been involved
in the Pork Congress for six’years,
both as a member and as a past
president. He has also served as
president for the Huron County
Pork Producers and Hullett Federa
tion of Agriculture.
Newcomer David Armstrong is
seeking one of the three spots on
Hullett Twp. council.
A former Cub and Scout Leader,
Mr. Armstrong has been a baseball
coach for four years and a bowling
coach with the Youth Bowling
Council in Clinton.
His interest in council is precipi
tated by a desire to contribute to the
future and betterment of the com
munity, he says. He sees the loca
tion for the new township building
as an important issue facing council
as well as ensuring it is functional.
His personal goal is low taxes.
"We have one of the lowest tax
rates in Huron County, our roads
and services are just as good as
anyone else's. I'd like to keep those
taxes low and provide the same ser
vices in the future. It would be a
plus for our community as well as a
way to promote growth."

tion of Huron County Board of
Education trustee for Morris and
Tumberry Twps. He has previous
ly served one three-year term.
He has gained experience in poli
tics as president of the Huron
County Federation of Agriculture.
Mr. Garniss says it is his hope to
ensure that all Huron County stu
dents receive a quality education.
The most important issues to him
are cost restraint, and working to
see HCBE receives its fair share of
educational funding.
Mr. Garniss cites his personal
goal as getting fair educational
funding from the province.
Don McDonald
Don McDonald has been ac
claimed to his ninth term represent
ing Brussels and Grey Twp. on the
Huron County Board of Education
as a trustee.
Serving on the board has allowed
Mr. McDonald to follow through
on ideas generated by his interest in
education.
"My greatest concern is to ensure
that each and every student in
Huron County has access to a good
education while the board restruc
tures the education system to keep
the budget under control," he says.
HURON COUNTY KABLE
In recent years, the advanced technology has allowed cable
TV subscriptions to be delivered to town and country
residences anywhere via a wireless personal cable system.
The expense of running cable lines or installing new
fibreoptic lines to each resident in the country is not feasible.
Installing a wireless cable unit into each household allows
the subscribers to have access to over 120 free channels,
with the option of subscribing to specialty channels on an
individual basis (thus bypassing the middleman, "the cable
company").
This cable service can also be provided to the existing
satellite dish owner with a simple modification to their
equipment.
Allen Stubbs...First in Entertainment, has had over 10 years
experience in providing cable TV subscription signals from
their private cable systems throughout Ontario. Therefore
the wireless residential units are a natural addition to their
product line.
Allen Stubbs has been granted the exclusive right to rent,
lease, or sell wireless Country Kable systems throughout
Huron County. Additional information can be obtained by
calling the Allen Stubbs office in Thedford and talking to one
of their five representatives throughout the county. Monthly
magazines, channel charts and pricing, free viewing of the
VHS promotional tape, information packages, free
information seminars and much more can be obtained by
calling today.
