Auburn [Compiled by Mildred Lawlor Music preludes were by pianists Nancy Park and Cheryl Wilson for Knox United's anniversary service, Sunday. Londesboro Church were the guests. The invitation to worship was read alternately and opening chorus was sung. Rev. Ross gave words of welcome. A solo, Take These Wings was sung by guest Lisa Alexander, accompanied by Nancy Park. Rev. Ross gave the prayers and the hymn The Wise May Bring Their Learning was sung. Rev. Ross had conversation with the children and the children's chorus was sung. Hymn Jesus Where'er Thy People Meet was sung. On Thursday, Oct. 13 there was a bridal shower for Nichole Olejnick at the home of Phyllis Mitchell. The shower was put on by Phyllis, Evelyn Blake, and Annette Lew- ington. About 35 people attended and shared in the fun and games and contests. Then the miscellaneous gifts were opened. Later they all enjoyed cheesecake, grapes and biscuits. Good fun, good friends and good food. A beef luncheon will be served on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the Com­ munity hall at the normal mealtime of 11:30 to 1. The proceeds from these meals keep our hall alive and in good repair. Come out for a wonderful meal and see good friends. The scriptures were read and Ms Alexander sang Be Thou My Vision. The hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful vias sung. Rev. Ross's message was "In Praise of Piglet". He then gave prayers and the offering was received by Peter Verbeek, Michael Bakker, Greg Park and Gordon Gross, then dedicated in song. The closing hymn was, Rise Up, O Men of God. The choir sang Go Out Together and Rev. Ross gave the benediction. There was lunch in the basement and further fellowship. The next Huronview Fellowship will be held on Oct. 20 from 7 - 7:45 p.m. Betty Graber of Brussels was the speaker at Duff s United Church on Oct. 14. She had attended the general council meeting that was held recently and endeavoured to pass on the contents of the meeting as well as the more personal items of interest. On Oct. 17, the legion videotaped the kindergarten and Grade 4 chil­ dren at Walton Public School for the purpose of identification if any of them should become separated from homes and families for any reason.
