Most of the action on Friday night’s game in Brussels was around the Teeswater net as the home team glided to a 21-4 victory. Crusaders thump Teeswater Former Brussels man to coach Junior B team The Brussels Crusaders scored 10 first period goals enroute to a 21-4 win over the Teeswater Falcons in WOAA Senior Hockey exhibition Friday night. Brian TenPas led the way with a four goal effort while JC Hewitt,The Crusaders outshot Teeswater Blyth takes ball title Blyth Decorating of the Huron County Fastball League returned the championship to Blyth after a five year absence. After finishing in first place in the 13 team league, Blyth started the playoffs against the Belgrave Blue Devils. The best of three series was over in two close games as the Decorators won 2-1 and 5-4 against the young Belgrave squad. Blyth then met up against Walton Brewers for the North Division final. In the first game of the best of three Blyth played a strong defensive game and pulled out a 3- 0 win. The second game of the series did not go so well as the home team were run over, losing 13-5. The third game of the series went better as Blyth jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning, then hung on to take the game 6-3. Warren Moore went all nine innings and had 18 strikeouts to lead Blyth to a 4-3 win. Game two was just as close as Blyth pitcher Don Bogie tallied 11 strikeouts and got the 5-4 win and a two game lead in the series. In game three of the series Lieury took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning, but that was all they got as Warren Moore pitched another strong game, with 10 strikeouts. The Decorators were able to get one run in. the second and third innings and two more in the fifth to sweep the championship series in three close games. When the Kitchener Dutchmen's management decided to take the Midwestern Junior B team in a dif­ ferent direction, the new path led to former Brussels resident Terry McCutcheon. The 30-year-old McCutcheon was the captain of the Waterloo Siskins Sutherland Cup champi­ onship teams in '84 and '85 and is now playing in the Colonial Hock­ ey League with the Brantford Smoke. Mr. McCutcheon plans to contin­ ue playing. General Manager Nick Eelhart and Assistant GM Rob Hedges will be picking up bench duties until McCutcheon selects two assistants who will cover con­ flicts in his playing and coaching schedules. Though Mr. McCutcheon has no head coaching experience, the Dutchmen believe his education and playing experience will com­ pensate for anything lacking.
