Hullett's Chief Building Official Karl MacNaughton said that while it doesn't change the restriction it does bring a residence closer to the neighbouring farm, owned by Gary Nonkes. He was concerned that the buffer distance may double with the new designation, however after studying the plan, Ms Fisher said her interpretation was that it would be a single distance taken from the closest boundary line to the bam. Councillor Mason Bailey asked the affected property owners whether they would be happy if council rezoned or if they would appeal the decision. Mr. Reinink said, "As long as it doesn't change the restriction." Mr. Nonkes agreed. "As long as I can build a bam where I want then I have no objection." Councillor Bailey said that while economic growth is important it is good to remember that the neigh bouring farms are also important. "I hope that whatever we do is in the best interest of all concerned." Ms Fisher said that if either party wants to appeal the decision coun cil makes they have 20 days after being notified. Mr. Bowman, who is planning the property develop ment, was told he would have to wait the full 20 days before a build ing permit could be issued. "The proper procedure has to be fol lowed," said Ms Fisher.
