Cattle
Sales at Brussels Livestock for
the week ending Oct.7 were: fed
cattle, 756; cows, 230; veal calves,
102; sheep and goats, 120;
stockers, 1,475; and pigs, light run.
The market at Brussels Livestock
saw all classes of cattle selling $2 -
$4 lower. Cows sold $2 lower.
There were 584 steers on offer
selling from $78 to $84 to the high
of $92. Seventeen steers consigned
by Wayne O'Brien, Centralia,
averaging 1,379 lbs. sold for an
average of $79.33 with sales to
$92. Four steers consigned by Mike
Dalton, Goderich, averaging 1,190
lbs. sold for an average of $83.92
with sales to $90.50.
Twenty-six steers consigned by
Don Culbert, Dungannon, averag
ing 1,405 lbs. sold for an average
of $80.51 with sales to $88.75.
Fourteen steers consigned by
Gerald Geisel, Elmira, averaging
1,529 lbs. sold for an average of
$78.67 with sales to $87.75.
Twelve steers consigned by Jim
Howatt, Londesborough, averaging
1,418 lbs. sold for an average of
$83.32 with sales to $87.
Three steers consigned by David
Bowles, Brussels, averaging 1,453
lbs. sold for an average of $84.36
with sales to $86.25. Fifty-four
steers consigned by Murray Forbes,
Clinton, averaging 1,319 lbs. sold
for an average of $81.04 with sales
to $86. Twenty-two steers
consigned by Maple Ridge Farms,
Brussels, averaging 1,420 lbs. sold
for an average of $81.67 with sales
to $85.75.

A. Stewart Farms, Ripley, averag
ing 1,273 lbs. sold for an average
of $81.97 with sales to $84.60.
Forty-five steers consigned by
Carlyle Thomson, Parkhill,
averaging 1,345 lbs. sold for an
average of $81.73 with sales to
$82.85.
There were 145 heifers on offer
selling from $78 to $84 to the high
of $86. Five heifers consigned by
Lloyd Whitley, Creemore,
averaging 1,196 lbs. sold for an
average of $83.41 with sales to
$86. Fourteen heifers consigned by
Mux Lea Farms, Woodstock,
averaging 1,264 lbs. sold for an
average of $83.98 with sales to
$86.
Four heifers consigned by

averaging 1,093 lbs. sold for an
average of $81.54 with sales to
$85.75. Two heifers consigned by
George Matheson, Embro, averag
ing 1,070 lbs. sold for $85.
Eleven heifers consigned by

1,166 lbs. sold for an average of
$79.26 with sales to $84. Eight
heifers consigned by Craig Dill,
Mitchell, averaging 1,181 lbs. sold
for an average of $76.61 with sales
to $83. Two heifers consigned by

965 lbs. sold for $82.75.

1,435 lbs. sold for an average of

cows consigned by Arnold Fisher,
Goderich, averaging 1,150 lbs. sold
for an average of $57.04 with sales
to $64.50. Three cows consigned
by Wayne Beirnes, Listowel,
averaging 1,057 lbs. sold for an
average of $55.62 with sales to
$63.75.
There were 102 veal on offer
selling from $84 to $95.05 to the
high of $119.50. Eight veal
consigned by Allan McKinnon,
Shallow Lake, averaging 593 lbs.
sold for an average of $107.52 with
sales to $119.50. Two veal
consigned by Doug Harding,
Gorrie, averaging 705 lbs. sold for
an average of $114.77 with sales to
$115.50. Two veal consigned by

ture, Food and Rural Affairs

improvement services that will
enable Ontario beef producers to be
competitive into the future.

project were busy in the fields this past week, combining the crop which had been planted just
east of Londesboro.
